“See You Later Alligator” were the final gently whispered words from a mother to her son just moments before he died after a Boxing Day car crash in Northern Ireland.
According to the Daily Mail, seven-year-old Jackson Turner, died in the arms of his parents several hours after the three-car pile up in Newtonabbey (Ireland), which also left his sister and grandmother injured.
Lynsey, Jackson’s mother told Belfast Live of her last words to her young son:
“I said to him, ‘See you later alligator,’ and I told him he’d taken my heart with him but that I’d get it back when I see him again.” She said, “Then I kissed him and his daddy kissed him and we said goodbye for the last time.”
Lynsey explained further,
“Jackson was the star of our show. He was in the middle of everything, my wee sidekick. I didn’t go anywhere without him and he didn’t go anywhere without me.”
Lynsey went on to describe to the presenter how just 24 hours before the accident Jackson had been opening his Christmas presents with his sister, Ally.
But now just two days on, she is now having to explain to daughter Ally that her big brother will not be coming home, and she has told her Jackson has gone to be with the angels.
On the evening of the accident, Jackson’s grandmother Margaret Saunders was driving him and Ally back to their mother’s home. Margaret remains in hospital with serious injuries and the family say they are praying that she makes a full recovery as she is in a critical but stable condition.
Five people from the two other cars were also injured but none of them have been classed as life-threatening. Investigations are still continuing into the cause of the accident.
