For years we went to an independent agent, then about four years ago switched to h&r block and our return have never been higher!

If you are meaning just to get your personal tax done then its more expensive to go to an accountant rather then to just one of the tax experts such as H & R Block or some suppoing centers have tax experts set up there at tax time to do your tax for you and if you shop around you can find them to do your return for under $100 with no appointment needed.
