Roxy Jacenko revealed this week she has been diagnosed with breast cancer. She tells how daughter Pixie checked the lump for her mum.

Roxy revealed she had enlisted four-year-old daughter Pixie to help diagnose her breast cancer by feeling the lump.

The mother-of-two found the mass while showering at their Bondi home two weeks ago and asked her four-year-old daughter to feel it afterwards because she was ‘confused’ by what it was.

‘Her instant reaction was “eugggh mum!”‘ Roxy told Daily Mail Australia.

‘When I found the lump two weeks ago and got out of the shower, I asked Pixie to feel it as I was a little confused to what it actually was,’ she added.

With her husband behind bars and her son Hunter aged just two, Roxy said there was no one else in their Bondi home to share her fears with.

‘I guess I showed her as my initial options were Pixie or Hunter. I then called my mum and she raised her concern,’ she said.

‘I didn’t think I was letting her feel cancer at the time, you just don’t think that at 36.’

Roxy has no intentions of slowing down anytime soon.

‘I don’t do time off, it’s not in my blood, I have worked since I was 14,’ she said.

‘I need to keep going, work is my happy place. Couple that with the most sensational team that I have across both my Sweaty Betty PR company and Digital Agency, The Ministry of Talent and it’s very much business as usual.

Earlier Roxy said ‘It can only be up from here. You can never expect things in life. You’ve got to tackle things head on and that’s what I’m going to do.

Roxy shared an important message to young women, read her thoughts here.

  • This sounds like a rather… Inappropriate thing to ask her daughter to do. I mean, what could a 4 year old usefully say?

  • Wishing you well with the journey ahead Roxy. It is a tough journey and I hope you get all of the support you need.

    • It is such a shock and initially disbelief – best of luck with treatment.

  • Roxy is in for a massive shock if she has to have chemotherapy.
Chemo “kills” your immune system. She will have to stay isolated as much as possible. She will need to buy a bulk suppy of hand sanitiser and clean them after everything she touches out in public – doors and their handles, don’t use taps out in public to wash your hands even after using the toilet – use hand sanitizer. You virtually risk your life if you aren’t careful as you can catch any bug etc. so easily. She has to think about the welfare of her children too.
I know people who have had chemo and how hard it is to take so many precautions

  • Nice to make kids aware of these things, but far too much. Not like a 4 year old has experience touching breasts to know what is normal or not. Roxy needs friends now with hubby away.. .not a four year old.

  • I hope she doesn’t neglect her health because of her business.
