Who says having fun requires money? Here are some kids activities in Brisbane that are completely free!

We all know about the beaches but what about the other attractions that Brisbane has but we never knew they were free? Museums are a great way for kids to be exposed to art and the inventions and history of the world. Kids activities in Brisbane are endless and they change with every season.

South Bank Lagoon

A must visit! Located in the middle of the city, the South Bank Lagoon is the perfect place to visit as it gives kids the ability to swim, play at the playground or participate in the storytime sessions during the morning. It is packed with fun and entertainment for the whole family! The parks next to it are also a great place to walk and have a family picnic or just enjoy a sunny day on the grass. There are other places similar to South Bank Lagoon like the Settlement Cove Lagoon and the Orion Lagoon. Just find the one nearest to you!

Museums

Museums are always a great place to go to with the family as they give the chance for everyone to learn something new. Brisbane has a few free museums including the Museum of Brisbane and the Queensland Museum. Keep in mind that some exhibitions might need payment to enter. The kids will be able to learn more about the history of Brisbane and Australian culture. They will gain an insight into the history of Aboriginal people and listen to Aboriginal sounds while seeing their art.

Daisy Hill Koala Centre

The perfect destination for kids who love nature and of course Koalas! The Daisy Hill Koala Centre allows kids of all ages to see how koalas live and how they interact with each other. They also provide talks that aim to help people learn more about the animals. They are open from early in the morning until late in the afternoon. Keep in mind that petting and hugging koalas are actions that are not allowed. General admission is free and this activity is guaranteed to entertain everyone, not only the kids!

Libraries and shopping centres

One of the most popular kids activities in Brisbane is the storytime sessions at the local libraries that attracts a lot of children. It is an amazing opportunity for the kids to socialise and make new friends as well as listen to a wonderful story. Local libraries offer a great range of free kids activities in Brisbane.  There are also shopping centres that organise events targeted specifically to children so it will be a great idea to keep an eye out for those.

Water Parks

Water Parks are always a great solution on a hot day. Two of the most popular ones are the Ferny Grove Aqua Park and the Robelle Domain. The Ferny Grove Aqua Park has parking onsite and it’s a great spot for a picnic as it also provides electric barbecues. Robelle Domain doesn’t only have a water park, but it also has sports fields and the Orion Lagoon. Two birds with one stone! There are more water parks worth visiting like Wynnum Water Park and Splash ‘n’ Play Water Park. Make sure you check the operating hours before going.

 Mt Coot-tha Lookout

If you want something more adventurous then Mt Coot-tha is the place to visit. It has amazing views and it is the perfect destination for those who love to take a walk in nature. It is even better to visit during the night so you can see the lights of the city and take the most magical photos! If your kids are into adventure then this one is a great choice!
