She’s one of the most controversial figures on the internet and now Freelee the Banana Girl is hitting back at her critics.

Famous for living in the jungle and surviving on a diet consisting largely of bananas, Freelee the Banana Girl is under fire for her supposed ‘off-grid’ lifestyle, with many claiming that the vegan Youtuber and blogger isn’t as authentic as she might appear to be.

Hitting Back At The Haters

A Queensland native, Freelee claims that she spends most of her days naked and no longer shaves her body hair or wears make up, choosing instead to embrace a natural lifestyle news.com.au reports.

Though she claims to live ‘off-grid’ in a cabin in the jungle of South America, critics have accused Freelee of being a fraud. “One commentator said I was lying and living in a mansion out here and have a photographer following me around taking all my pics. Not quite hunny. In reality I’ve been living under a tent in a shed for many months, through monsoonal rains and gale force winds. It’s been really tough at times. No photographer, but I do have Mr Tripod enabling me to video myself and then take screenshots for Instagram.”

Having nearly 800,000 Youtube subscribers and over 400,000 Instagram followers sounds like a rough gig…

From Concrete Jungle to Real Life Jungle

Freelee chose to move to the jungle in February with her partner after growing tired of the 9-5 grind. “I used to work in a concrete jungle and now I just work in the jungle,” she said. “I spend most of my days nude, free of restrictive clothing. I feast mostly on organic fruits and vegetables picked from the land. I shower in monsoonal rains and drink from pristine creeks…I’m feeling freer than ever in life.”

It’s hard not to be critical of Freelee’s claims when she has been spotted driving in a car and her ‘tent’ looks more like a house to us. Plus she has the latest smartphone, internet access, a state of the art laptop and editing software. Sounds very much ‘on grid’ to us.

So while Freelee the Banana Girl is known for her opinionated takedown of well-known companies and celebs, we feel like she might be starting to get a taste of her own medicine…

  • Good story although strange as . I think it would be a learning curve for some people to live like this. Some days I think I could be a banana girl.

    • To each their own I guess,it would be nice IF sometimes we could live like this, but agree, how’s she posting this stuff if she’s really living ‘off’ the grid?

  • hmm off grid you say, pretty sure off grid is not having internet lol! – not sure what she hopes to achieve by broadcasting her antics on social media but good on her for trying

  • Sounds to me like a personality who craves some strange attention.

  • I’ve personally never heard of her and likely not to follow her as this really doesn’t interest me.

  • Lol. Another influencer who isn’t what she says she is. Why am I not surprised. You can’t be “off-grid” when you have internet access and that diet doesn’t sound balanced at all.

  • I agree with mom7108. Something is not quite right there. Never heard of her before but if she is so off grid what’s with all the tech gear and why plaster yourself all over social media.

  • I think we all want to believe we can ditch the ‘concrete jungle’ however when I look at this woman with her manicured eyebrows and hairless legs, her face seems to have a small amount of make up and like the article says, she has the latest tech to promote herself, it hardly seems what she is sprouting is realistic.

  • I’m pretty sure I used to follow her on Facebook years ago. I must have unfollowed for some reason along the way. I will have to go and check her social media platforms out again. To each their own ????????‍♀️

  • This is the first time I heard/read about this woman, don’t know about her.

  • Off grid maybe not as she has tech. No one can really say unless they are with her to see.
