If you’re hanging out for your half way mark ultrasound, or not keen to find out officially, there are some ways you can try and predict the gender.

Look at the appearance of your bump, if you’re carrying high, it’s a girl, if your bump is low, you’re carrying a boy.

Ask your Doctor what the babies heart rate is. Apparently a boys heart rate is lower, 140+ beats per minute indicates a girl, and below 140 a boy.

Craving sweet things, you’re having a girl. If you have to have salty or sour stuff, then it’s a boy.

If you’re breaking out in pimples, then it’s girl.

Tie a ring to string and hang it over your belly. If it swings in a circle, you’re having a boy. If it goes back and forth, it’s a girl.

Bad morning sickness? You’re having a girl. Little or no morning sickness, it’s a boy.

When you are pregnant with a girl, you hold your extra baby weight on your bum and hips. If you’re pregnant with a boy, all your extra baby weight will be at the front on your belly.

Chinese gender charts, enter the mother’s age and date of conception and the chart will tell you the gender!

I have had both boys and girls and I did notice in my pregnancies, that I had terrible morning sickness in the first trimester with the girls and only nausea with the boys.

Have you tried any of these? Were they correct? Please SHARE in the comments below.

  • You’re being offensive and being “binary” by saying that there are only 2 genders! Didn’t you know that already? Only the child can tell you their gender, you can’t tell them their gender. Go read the Gender Fairy book.

  • I used the Chinese chart and it did predict correctly and I was told because of my awful morning sickness I would have a girl and I did.

  • They were mostly wrong for me except the cabbage test was accurate! Everything else indicated girl and I had my second boy!

  • haha I remember doing some of these. I woke up one night, sat up in bed, woke my hubby up and said I am having a boy. I just knew…

  • I craved both salty and sweet with my first. I couldn’t tell you how many boxes of Tim Tam balls and Kettle crisps I polished off. I think the carrying high or low was right for me though.

  • I know what I am having and just for fun tried the ring test… which turned out to be accurate. A few other things line up to except the salty, sour, sweet thing. I am definitely having a girl but I craved sour foods.

  • One theory is big belly for girl and big bum for a boy. My Mum was so sick – day and night just about all the way with my brother that she was sent to hospital several times – once unconscious.

  • The chicken sexer worked perfectly for me every time! That was 4 times. Ultra sounds are not always correct! lol!!!
