Olympic gold medalist, Giaan Rooney, has opened up about adjusting to life after giving birth to her second child.

Mum of two, Giaan, 35, revealed she has been ‘struggling to get my groove back’ after welcoming daughter Lexi to the world with her husband Sam Levett in June.

‘I find the days at home with #lexilevett monotonous yet the days I work I miss her like crazy,’ Giaan wrote in an Instagram post on Thursday.

‘I find the work days stressful on a number of levels (baby brain is a THING I tell you!) right down to what to wear.’

Giann admitted she is often rocking ‘mum guilt’ even though she loves her job when she’s at work.

‘[I’m] exhausted with the constant juggling act of life with a couple of kids…but love them so much I feel my heart could explode!’ she said.

‘Makes me realise how much pressure we put on ourselves to try and get it all “right”, whatever that is?’

‘Grateful for a fabulous husband, hands-on parents/grandparents, healthy children, great work colleagues who make me look good, and the make-up magicians I work with who work miracles,’ she said.

‘It takes a village alright! #thejuggleisreal #worklife#mumlife #grateful #keepinitreal’

  • Lexi is learning how interact with other adults besides her parents.
Grandparents play a wonderful part in their grandchild’s life. Make sure you tell them how much you appreciate their help and for their devotion to your child/children so they don’t ever feel they are being taken for granted. If after awhile they find it to exhausting to do justice your child you have to accept that graciuosly and make alternative arrangements be prepared to do so asap. They will probably be desperate before they tell you.

  • I always worked except for a small amount of maternity leave and guilty never crossed my mind. We all provide for our children in many different ways. The way I look at it is if you feel guilty about working then don’t, if you have to work for financial reasons then you’re providing for your family — which is commendable and nothing to feel guilty about, if you work because you love work but don’t really have to then why feel guilty, it’s better for your family if you’re happy and have a well rounded life so you also shouldn’t feel guilty.

    • Exactly – well said – guilt is a waste of time in every way and utterly pointless.

  • pretty sure every mum feels things at one point or another – just got to remember the big picture and that hopefully you can find a work/life balance that feels most comfortable with you and your family.

I am happy that she admits even as a celebrity that the struggle is real! – makes me feel normal

  • There is no need for guilt. Do what is best for you and your family at the time.

  • You know if you are doing your best that all will turn out right, so stop feeling guilty.

  • Just be who you are and give your best and throw that mum guilt in the bin ! We all have different strengths, gifts and talents. We should never underestimate to take care for ourselves to be able to care for others.

  • Oh yes! And it doesn’t stop once they’re adults. I am always questioning what I say and do for my 2 grown up kids

  • I refuse to feel guilty. I’m doing the absolute best I can and considering some of the parents out there beating their kids to death while nobody notices I think I’m not doing too badly at all. My kid knows he’s loved and shows love back. I reckon that means I’m doing just fine.
