Giving is good for the soul. It helps you to think outside your own problems and helps you think of another person – their likes, what makes them happy, what they need or what would bring them joy and make them smile.

  • Interesting that gardening is mentioned. I discovered that an elderly neighbour was kneeling on the ground doing weeding. I helped pull them out at weekends as she wouldn’t let me do all of them. She did some during the week to keep herself active,
For awhile I knitted Trauma Teddies that were used in Ambulances when rushing little ones to hospital.

  • I really enjoy giving. I much prefer to give a gift then receive it. Don’t know why. I just like it more

  • This is so true, we spend so much time worrying about material things that a little bit of time spent with someone who is lonely or not coping is worth just so much more, I recall having bad post natal depression when it was taboo, it would have been so nice if someone had popped in and just helped me do the dishes, or watched the kids I would have been ever so grateful, now I always watch for people that may need a chat or a hand as I think time is way more important than any material possession. Oh and a pack of tim tams never goes astray!!!
