Hello!

Instead of celebrating their daughters third birthday today, a grieving family has launched a campaign to help raise awareness for Meningococcal B following their toddlers death.

Today little Skylar should be celebrating her third birthday with her twin sister.

Today, she should be unwrapping presents and giggling and eating birthday cake.

But today, her family will be missing her more than ever.

Skylar died very recently from Meningococcal B.

Her family had carefully followed the National Immunisation Program, but were not told about the OTHER vaccines – the expensive meningococcal vaccines that help protect against the most common strains of the disease.

Today, Skylar’s twin sister will be wondering why she now celebrates birthdays without Skylar.

Today, Skylar’s parents will be nursing their heartbreak while attempting to smile and make the day special for Skylar’s twin. And despite their intense grief, today Skylar’s family are doing something incredible.

Desperate to raise awareness about Meningococcal B, Skylar’s family are today launching the #ShareACinoWithSkylar campaign.

You can show them your support by heading to any of the below cafes to share a free babycino with your kids (a great school-holidays outing!)

More importantly than the free babycino, you will also be able to grab a brochure about Meningococcal B. This information could save a life!

Don’t forget to take a pic and use the #ShareACinoWithSkylar hashtag!

  • We need to be notified about all vaccinations, not just those on the National Register. How many have gastro before the tell-signs as it is too late to prevent substantial grief for those left behind or disabilities caused by it.

  • Just devastating. I can’t imagine what the family is going through.

  • Such a sad time for the family. Why aren’t all vaccines free for little ones.

  • So devastating! All vaccines should be free and accessible!

  • Such a beautiful little girl. How sad for this family – so bittersweet to have a twin to celebrate all occasions with, without her sister. RIP Skylar.

  • How very sad, may she rest in peace. But great to see them raising awareness.

  • This disease seems to be so hard to recognise that vaccines should be part of the free immunisation programme as far as I am concerned. The amount of maimed people from this disease is shocking and it can happen to anyone at any age, evidently.

  • So sad ! My thought and prayers go out to this family.
The government should be the one raising the awareness and taking it up in the national vaccine program !!

  • Thanks for raising awareness of this – RIP sweet girl x

  • I wish they would put these vaccines on the mational register. No family should mourn a child who died from a preventable disease in this country ever!

  • Sweet Skylar. I really hope the Government will decide to subside this vaccine.
