You might already own a smart phone, smart TV, smart car, smart watch but there’s a new smart product coming onto the market – the smart peg! Would you buy one?

Peggy is an Australian product designed by laundry powder manufacturer OMO and tells you WHEN you should do your washing!

Aimed at giving parents more time with their kids, the peg connects to your home Wi-Fi and via an app on your phone, Peggy will send you a message with the weather forecast, whether you should wash that day and the approximate drying time of your washing. It will even warn you if rain is on the way so you can bring in the washing.

Peggy can also suggest activities you can do with the kids in the current weather.

Check out Peggy’s story:

I don’t think I will be be buying one, unless it’s designed to do the washing, hang it out and fold it at the end of the day, I doubt it will be saving me too much time.

  • Yes, too far. Soon humanity will be so stupid that we won’t think to look at a weather report on the news.

  • I reminds me of something quite simple designed for vision impaired people that has been around for 40+ years as a family friend had one. She had a “gadget” which sat in the yard that detected moisture e.g. mist, rain, fog, etc that dampens washing, also sudden cloud cover. I was never there when it was being used but it made a loud noise of some type which alerted her to get her washing in off the line.

  • Because all the weather apps you can get are just not enough right. so stupid.

  • My thoughts exactly Jessica. I won’t be needing ‘Peggy’ either.

  • Um… technology gone way too far, sorry! I watch the weather forecast nightly, it’s also on my phone and in my daily paper, or I can look out the window to see how the weather is. And in the winter, I wash and hang it up inside under the heating vents.

  • I hate washing piling up..I wash every day. Hello if you see its raining out side best not hang the washing on the outside line..don’t need a darn peg to tell me when to do the washing and I’m guessing he is one expensive peg at that.

  • Agreed, unless it hangs the washing out for me I think it will be a pass!

  • Not really interested in this gimmick.

  • Oh gosh…too funny. I was on Saturday no matter the weather. If its sunny the wash goes on the line and if its raining then it goes into the dryer.
