Former Home and Away star has shared his secrets for getting into the best shape of his life. The actor changed his eating habits and has since lost 12kg.

Actor Lincoln Lewis is in the best shape of his life thanks to a high-protein, low-carb eating plan which has seen him shed 12kg in the last 18 months.

The star embarked on three-month intense fitness challenge last year which saw him drop from a high of 90kg to 78kg and has managed to keep the weight off – even throughout COVID times.

Lincoln reveals that prior to the health challenge his eating habits were out of control due to a bout of depression in 2019.

Sugar Rollercoaster

“I was at such a low point that some days I was eating chocolate for breakfast, then throughout the day chips, cookies and ice-cream. I was literally shuffling to the cupboard and just grabbing what I could for a sugar high. Then I’d come crashing down again and need another sugar hit. It was a bad cycle.”

The 32-year-old started working with a nutritionist who overhauled his eating to include lots of fresh vegetables and lean protein. He also began working out in the gym six days a week weight training and also runs around 10km every night.

Gradually the depression lifted.

He made such a transformation that eating healthy now is just an everyday thing.

Nutritional Secrets

“I mainly eat protein with minimal carbs. Breakfast is usually scrambled eggs with mushrooms and spinach, lunch would be a chicken salad with avocado, and for dinner I like grilled fish or steak with lots of organic fresh vegetables like capsicum and broccoli. I might have some potatoes or sweet potatoes at night with dinner but that’s usually it for carbs. I have pretty much cut out bread as it made me feel sluggish and I really don’t miss it. I listen to my body now and my body is often saying, ‘Nah, don’t bother with the carbs!'”

As ambassador for September’s Australian Organic Awareness Month, Lincoln is currently on a personal health and wellness journey learning as much as he can about organic produce. He recently visited several organic producers in his home state of Queensland and was inspired by their passion for wholefoods.

“As one of the farmers at Cleaver’s Organic Meats in Toowoomba pointed out, back in the day before pesticides everybody ate was organic anyway. That really resonated with me because I’m trying to live a simpler life, so I like eating the way people did in yesteryear.”

Taste The Difference

Lincoln who now largely eats fresh vegetables and high-quality meat said now he’s weaned himself off processed junk food, he can really taste the difference with organic produce.

“It also gives me such a mental boost knowing that what I am eating has been produced sustainably and cleanly with no added pesticides and synthetic chemicals. However, you do have to make sure what you’re buying has a certified organic logo on it as some products without the logo claim to be organic when they’re actually not.”

“Before when I was binging on junk food it made me feel so awful knowing that what I was eating was so bad for my body. It would bring my whole mood down. However now I just feel happy knowing I’m doing the best thing for my body and the environment as well.”

Lincoln is now planning to resume acting roles once COVID restrictions lift and is also embracing his new hobby of beekeeping.

“Generally, I’m a lot happier and whilst a period like COVID isn’t great if you’re an actor, on the upside, it’s given me an opportunity to slow down and refresh which has been good.”

  • Think that Lincoln has done a great job. Once you stop buying pre-prepared food and stop the take-aways then you are half way there I found. If you fill up on fresh fruit and veg and stop the booze, then the weight will fall off very quickly.
