Knitting a scarf is on my list of things to do this year and I found a scarf that not only looks great, you can make on your arm – in 30 minutes!

DIY arm knit scarf

What you’ll need:

2 balls of thick wool of your choice

Method:

1. Find the ends of both of your balls of wool.

2. With both ends together, measure 4 feet in on your wool; this section will be called the tail (and used to weave ends of scarf together if you want to join them).

3. Do a slipknot in your wool.

4. Place the slipknot over your arm and tighten slightly.

5. Separate your tail and your working wool with your fingers.

6. To make the stitches, put your hand through.

7. Repeat until you have 12 stitches on your arm.

8. Now you are ready to knit and make your scarf longer. Hold your working wool and slip the stitch off your arm and over the wool to make a loop. Put your other arm through that loop and tighten slightly.

9. Repeat until all your stitches are on your other arm.

10. Repeat step 8 to grow scarf and move to the other arm.

11. Repeat until scarf is desired length to wrap around your neck twice (approximately 20 times).

12. To finish off repeat step 8 until you have 2 stitches only on one arm. Then loop the first of the two stitches over the second one and off your arm.

13. Repeat step 12, adding one more stitch at a time to the other arm.

14. When you are down to one single stitch, this gets tied off with the working wool.

15. Now you have two options, cut off the tail and use or you can join both ends of the scarf together to make an infinity scarf that you can loop around your neck.
