Store bought fruit and vegetables are often covered in pesticides, dirt and germs. But don’t worry you can easily remove all of this by making your own fruit and vegetable spray to clean them up ready for eating.

Fruit and Vegetable wash

What you’ll need:

  • 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 1 cup of water
  • spray bottle

Method:

  1. Combine the apple cider vinegar, lemon juice and water in a spray bottle and shake to combine.
  2. When you buy fruit or veg, spray lightly with wash and leave on for 30 seconds (for soft skinned fruit e.g. berries) to 1 minute and then rinse.
  3. Your fruit and vegetables are ready for eating or storing.
  4. Keep your spray in the fridge and it will last a month.

What a quick and easy way to clean your fruit and vegetables!

  • Great recipe ! When I run out of the ingredients or to make it a bit cheaper I sometimes wash it just in a solution of white vinegar with water, but I try to make sure to have the ingredients at home all the time.

  • I simply rinse with water. I wasnt aware there was another way. I don’t have any little ones at home so I guess I would have done research prior. Great ‘recipe’, very easy to get your hands on these ingredients. Is there anything ACV can’t do?!

  • I just soak mine in water for about 5 minutes then wipe them dry. Can’t use the recipe because I’m allergic to lemons, juice and skin.

  • This is a fantastic formula, Jessica.
I usually leave fruits in the basin filled with water for 5 minutes then rinse them in runny water.

  • Seems a lot easier than what we did the other night. Quite a few of our store bought apples were “waxy” so we soaked them in a sink of water and apple cider and malt vinegar.
