I am very keen to try this as I use lip balm everyday. They would also make great gifts.

How to make your own lip balm

What you need:

  • Solid beeswax
  • Coconut oil
  • Honey
  • Jars

Method:

1. Melt 1/3 cup beeswax in saucepan.

2. Add 1/4 cup coconut oil and 1 tablespoons of honey and combine.

3. Pour into jars.

4. Let it set, this takes about 15 minutes.

You can add a couple of drops of essential oils to the mixture before pouring into jars if you wish.

Try it out and let me know how you go. Please add your comment below.

  • I’ve been making my own lip balm for quite some time now & could never go back to store bought stuff. Beeswax – buy online or some health food stores. I also add other oils like Vitamin E, Sweet Almond & Rosehip, just depends on what I have on hand at the time. Can also buy wind up tubes really cheap online :)

  • Such a simple idea although I don’t use lip balm. I’ll definitely be keeping this recipe on hand just in case.

  • Hmmm… where to get beeswax? I use lip balm every day – the Paw Paw version and am about to run out. This looks simple and easy and a great gift idea.

  • I am definitely giving this a go. I love natural products. I was given something similar once but it started going mouldy. Being home made and with no preservatives, do we need to keep this balm in the fridge?

  • This is a great homemade gift idea for a baby shower or bridal shower or even as a wedding favour. Or a great project for a girl’s birthday party.
