Hello!

As all parents when it comes to planning a party, the thought usually puts us off from having/hosting an event.

Recently I planned / helped host a 16th Movie night themed party, it was so much fun.

We hired a movie screen and speakers (Teens choose the movies) which we set up with rugs, blankets, pillows and heaters on the night.

During the planning I decided there should be a food/lollie/drink stand just like the movies where the kids could pick and choose what they liked. We decided to have popcorn, different flavoured chips, little lollie bag, and a variety of chocolate bars, all of which was brought on sale the couple of weeks leading up to the party.

We couldn’t just have movie food, so we bulk ordered pizza for the 20 teens.

We also had a drink stand with different flavoured fizzy drinks and water.

The birthday girl requested something different as thank you gifts, she chose handmade biscuits decorated to her party theme, they looked and tasted amazing.

I also made the cake, I choose to do a Coles hack, and used 3 chocolate mud cakes and decorated them to look like a popcorn box.

Party’s don’t need to be stressful, they can be fun, with lots of planning ahead of time, everything came together easily.

  • Wow, so simple! But it looks great in the pic.
I think the only thing missing is the choc tops!!! Can’t have a movie themed party without them as they’re definitely a staple thing.

  • Sounds like a brilliant idea for my daughter who is turning 13 this year. Just have to investigate how much it would cost to hire the movie screen and speakers now.

  • I had a Hollywood theme 30th and it was the best theme ever! Everyone dressed up glamorous, we had a red carpet, popcorn on all tables, a candy bar buffet lolly bar, the speeches were set up like an award night with a drum roll and the person I was thanking got an award statue etc. It was the best and so easy to do!

    • Thanks for your interesting comment Mum2archer. Sooo love you pic, thanks for sharing with us…looks like a real fun celebration.
