Hello!

It’s finally here! Disney Plus, or Disney+ (how the cool kids write it) is the dedicated Disney streaming channel that we’ve been counting down the days to launch. And we’ve got the lowdown on whether it’s worth your while to sign up.

Disney+ landed today in Australia and New Zealand, offering subscribers access to a massive catalogue of Disney movies and TV shows. This includes titles from Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, 20th Century Fox and even documentaries from National Geographic.

Star Wars fans have been waiting to stream The Mandalorian, the live-action Star Wars series and with many Marvel shows in the making, such as Hawkeye and WandaVision, superhero followers will sure to be signing up.

Of course, the famous Disney kids movies and shows are almost endless and viewers will even get access to 29 seasons of The Simpsons. We are also super excited for High School Musical: The Series.

No To Bingeing!

Interestingly, Disney’s chairman of direct-to-consumer and international, Kevin Mayer, said the platform would follow the trend away from content “bingeing”. Rather it would broadcast its original content on a weekly basis instead.

“We think that our content is pretty special and the anticipation and the water cooler effect of having a renewed experience every week is actually going to work really well with our content,” Mayer added. “As weekly drops accumulate you can binge view at the end of the season [and] all of our library series are available for binge viewing immediately, so there will be plenty of bingeable content on our service.”

It’s Going To Be HUGE!

The service was released in the US a few days ago and had over 10-million sign-ups – massive!

Many Aussie users downloaded the app early this morning and are already enjoying the content.

One new viewer shared that they had found the Adventure of the Gummy Bears (I’ve just found it too – sooo exciting!).

It’s Like….WOW!

After downloading it myself, I feel like a kid in a candy store….there are so many awesome things to watch – I don’t even know where to start!

Thank goodness, you can watch up to four streams at the same time across all your devices, otherwise there would be some major fisty-cuffs going on amongst the kids and me.

So what are you waiting for…

Here’s how to sign up for Disney+ in Australia

The great news is that Disney+ is offering a free 7-day trial for starters. If you still wish to keep the service after that, you can opt for either a month-to-month subscription or a discounted annual subscription.

The monthly plan costs AU$8.99 a month and the subscription auto-renews, unless you cancel it.

The annual fee is discounted to AU$89.99, which pretty much equates to two free months of the service…an awesome deal if you’re a Disney fan.
