Maximise your Easter break in 2019 and save your annual leave with this simple trick!

For those of us exhausted by the constant demands of work, a well earned break may be closer than we think – and we won’t need to sacrifice our hard-earned leave to get it! The Daily Mail says we should start to think about lodging requests for annual leave during the Easter/ANZAC Day period in 2019 as there is a sneaky way to get ten days off for the price of three!

Quick, Before Someone Else Beats You To It!

Savvy workers who request leave for Tuesday 23 April and Wednesday 24 April following the Easter long weekend are off to a good start, securing themselves a five-day break. Add to that Friday 26 April following the public holiday for Anzac Day on Thursday 25 April and voila…you’ve got yourself a ten day holiday! Given that these dates also coincide with school holidays, they’re sure to be popular so start planning now!

So when we need something to look forward to after the Christmas break is long over, a ten-day mini-getaway in mid-April sounds pretty good to us. Just think of all the things you could get done in a week and a half!

  • I work with special needs children in a school setting so have the school holidays off so I am lucky to get a 2 week break every 10 weeks. Sadly I dont get paid during my time off though.

  • Very clever.
I don’t much care when I have a mini break as long as I get one occasionally.

  • That is very smart, always great to have extra holidays.

  • A great time to take school age children away for a holiday or some relaxing family day outings. It doesn’t have to be too expensive. Some places have free admission. To save money pack your own lunches. In warm/hot weather put food and drinks in cooler bags/esky

  • Used to do this all the time when I was at work – amazed that it had be spelled out for others to find out about it.

  • Oh clever! I have to be saavy with my leave requests now as school holidays will affect me!

  • Think it depends on where you work as to whether you can achieve this. I can get an extra 12 days if I work it out right. I work 8 days and have 6 off normally so if I take 8 days of annual leave I will actually get 20 days off.

  • Very clever. We’re always dictated by school holidays, but this is great. However, we prefer to take a big holiday in June. Escaping from the cold winter months of Melbourne to some tropical warmer climate. That’s what we’re planning for next year.

  • Yep! We get in super early with all holidays and plan well ahead to secure dates and to secure good prices too.

  • Yep! I was already onto it since it is hubby’s birthday

    • I am the same – all holidays and all leave already in the diary and on the calendar. :)
