Miranda Kerr tweets out beautiful Instagram photos of nature with cute captions like: ‘Sending Sunshine’ and she also regularly shares photos of her beautiful son, Flynn. Pink, tweets about how grateful she is to her fans for supporting her new music projects and also publicly shares how motherhood has changed her life for the better. Kourtney Kardashian tweets amazingly cute photos of Gucci baby clothes saying: ‘Gucci, Gucci Goo’ following the recent birth of her daughter.

The point I’m trying to make here is that so many mothers think that they don’t have enough time in the day to try out Twitter. However, if super-busy celebrity mums can find time to share authentic parts of their lives…then you can too.

It’s all about honouring your voice and not being scared to connect with people that could impact your life in some way.

Twitter is an amazing place to get inspired and informed. You can also attract fabulous opportunities, connect with like-minded people and see the world through the eyes of many different experiential viewpoints.

Even though the celebs have those ‘verified’ blue ticks on their Twitter accounts and thousands (if not millions) of followers, it’s so special to be able to see the human side of their experience as a parent beyond what we’re force-fed in the glossy magazines. There’s a raw beauty about being able to see how someone balances careers and motherhood.

For me, my Twitter journey has been one of empowerment and creativity. I started tweeting back in 2008. At the time I had just started my online business and was also a full-time mother of two. What I first noticed was that the more I shared myself online, the more people would connect with me. Since then I landed an international book contract teaching people about the power of influence, I attracted and met my soul-mate (who was living in Hollywood at the time) and together we started a booming 6-figure publishing company. All of this I can attribute to spending about 10 minutes per day just tweeting with people. It’s really that simple. As a parent (even you don’t run an online business) it’s so important to have a little ‘me’ time. It’s a sacred space that you can cultivate your own identity and record this amazing time in your life.

Here are 5 Tips to Start Tweeting Like a Celebrity Mum

  1. Jump in the conversational tweet stream – comment, compliment and connect!
  2. Tweet about things you love. This could be Instagram photos of your dog, your hot hubby, funny baby pictures or a beautiful sunset.
  3. Never feel obligated to reply to people unless you want to.
  4. Try to think of yourself as a brand that you need to manage and that everything you put out there contributes to someone’s overall perception of you. But also remember not to hold yourself back from being expressive. Always dance like no one is watching.
  5. See Twitter as a micro-Universe to attract opportunities, people and events that will help you to grow in some way both personally and professionally.

All of this advice only comes with one little warning – and that is to not get yourself addicted to Twitter! Just as a celebrity mum would plan out and schedule her time with everything she does, you have to as well.

You next mission is to tweet me (@sarahprout) and we can keep this conversation going.
