Authorities have issued an urgent recall on a range of popular milk products sold at Coles, Woolworths and IGA stores in Victoria and parts of NSW.

Lactalis Australia is recalling the Coles, Pauls and PhysiCAL milk products as they may contain “an amount of food grade dairy cleaning solution”.

‘The recall is due to chemical/contaminant (food grade dairy cleaning solution) contamination. The milk products may have a yellowish colouring and/or metallic chemical taste,’ Food Standards Australia said.

In a statement, Coles said supermarkets in the NSW locations of Lavington, Deniliquin and Albury were among those supplied with the potentially contaminated milk.

Customers can return the product or proof of purchase to any Coles supermarket for a full refund.

Anyone concerned about their health should seek medical advice.

  • Scary how many brands are involved in this.

  • It proves to a lot of customers that Coles and Woolworths do NOT have their own milk processing plant. I always knew the IGA and Foodland don’t.
The same applies to other “generic” brand products and not all of them are food. Even some brands of house paint in Hardware stores are “generic” brands

  • Crikey! Poor cows, all that milk gone to waste. I don’t usually buy 1lt bottles so phew. I get the ones that support the farmers, 2lt from Woolies or Coles.
