There is an absolute plethora of weight loss programs out there, how do you know what will work for you?

I find that often my clients will have signed up for a weight loss program knowing that they were probably going to fail!

Why? Because they were signing up for something that was a chore, that the client knew they wouldn’t enjoy, this is a real problem because when you make a change you really need to know you will enjoy this change, this is the benefit of hypnotherapy in weight loss, it’s calm, enjoyable and relaxing, how good does that sound?

We have all heard stories of weight struggles, of battles, of triumphs, and defeat, against weight problems. We all know that weight loss entails not only a lot of discipline but also tons of will power.

Will power to change yourself, to understand that what you eat today is what you will become tomorrow, and the ability to step out of your comfort zone to change yourself for the better.

But all of those are just scratching the surface, in order to be fully committed to a weight loss program or training, one must assess issues with regards to weight. Is it only an issue of food intake or is there a deeper reason behind it? Deeper in a sense that it involves emotions, mental processes, past experiences, and behaviour.

Hypnotherapy is known for correcting certain imbalances in behaviour and body functions, it can help those who want to quit smoking, it can relieve those who have suffered emotional trauma and it is gaining worldwide attention as a successful program for weight loss.

The truth of the matter is, it makes sense, eating habits are a part of one’s behaviour, and if there is an issue with habits hypnotherapy is a brilliant solution.

Beyond motivation and encouragement to make a choice, hypnotherapists specialising in weight loss want you to know that the answer lies within you, it’s about trusting your inherent capabilities to know what to do in order to curb those unwanted extra pounds.

One step at a time, the objective is finding your balance at your own pace and rhythm, it accentuates positivity into your eating habits by saying “hey it’s not a bad thing to enjoy eating” but also reminds you to eat what is just enough.

In order to achieve optimum results, hypnotherapy enables you to re-evaluate your relationship with food – distinguishing those that can nourish you and those that you really don’t need excessively.

It removes the world “guilt” on your journey for a healthier you – “it’s okay, go ahead and have that piece of cake.” Each hypnotherapist of course has their own unique approach for their clients but the core of it all is that it trains your brain to understand the dynamics of your body and your eating habits.

So is mind really over matter? Can we just think of things and turn it into reality? Can we just choose to be healthy? The answer is a resounding yes, but just to make a choice without action is futile, hypnotherapy is just your vehicle, you hold the steering wheel and your drive for change is what fuels it.

If you believe you can change to a better version of yourself, with the right information and help, and by committing to the change, you can achieve your fitness goals without a shadow of doubt.

  • My sister used hypnotherapy for weight loss a few years ago and it worked super well – weight still off and stopped sessions ages ago.

  • I have tried Hypnotherapy for weight loss along with other things a very longtime ago and it seemed to have worked for a few years until I needed to go back on anti-depressants. I guess it depends on the intensity of the therapy that’s given to the success rate.

  • I haven’t had the opportunity to try hypnotherapy. I am currently having a massive struggle with weight loss and self control concerning food. I didn’t realise I was so obsessed with food. If I had the spare cash, I would definitely give this a go

  • I know at least one person who used hypnotherapy to loose weight – he lost weight & kept it off. I also know someone else who used it to lessen his fear of heights!

  • When you join together the semantics of habits that are seemingly unbreakable leading to weight gain I guess it makes sense that this therapy may work.

  • An interesting article. I often say if only I had a switch I could turn on and off in relation to food. I feel I need help in this area and would be open to a hypnotherapist. I’m not aware of anyone close who has tried this option, so am interested to read the comments below. I know I have issues in relation to food that are more emotional-based so I would definitely consider this option.

  • Thanks for a clear explanation of hypnotherapy. I wonder if it will work on me as English is my second language.

  • I’ve recently tried Hypnotherapy and was quite skeptical at first. However it has helped with the urge to eat bad foods, I don’t eat or even think of chocolate as much and I feel more like exercising. It is not a “cure” in itself, it is an “aid”. The idea is to make you want to do the exercise and eat the right foods to lose weight and if you commit to the process it can help. I lost 5kgs in 4 weeks and I started exercising 4 – 6 times a week. Yes the exercise was what made me lose the weight, but the Hypnotherapy is what encouraged me to do the exercise in the first place. It is still a long process, but I feel better about myself and know that I can get there.
