A Mum-of-five, addicted to ice, will be deported back to England leaving her children behind.

Kelly Webb, from the Victorian city of Geelong, is expected to be sent back to the United Kingdom when she is released from jail this week, the Herald Sun reported.

The 31-year-old, who came to Australia as a child but was never naturalised, narrowly avoided deportation last year after promising to turn her life around.

Webb, originally from England, killed her stepfather with a kitchen knife and hockey stick when she was a teenager after a decade of ‘monstrous’ childhood abuse.

She was convicted of manslaughter and the court served her with a good behaviour bond after hearing details of what she had endured.

Ms Webb then began to use the drug ice and was served an 18-month jail term in 2014 for a burglary she committed when armed with a steak knife.

When she was released last year, Ms Webb avoided deportation after pleading with authorities to allow her to remain in Australia.

‘If I get charged with anything, I am back in the immigration centre and that’s not a risk I am going to take,’ she told the paper at the time.

In February, she was again before the courts facing a string of theft charges, including allegedly stealing from a liquor store while her child was with her, reports Daily Mail.

The court was told Ms Webb used crystal meth daily and had been avoiding authorities in fear she would be thrown out of the country, according to the paper.

Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton reportedly cancelled her visa this week. She does have the right to challenge the minister’s decision.

Ms Webb’s five young children, who are all understood to be in the care of family members, now face the prospect of growing up without their mother.

  • Its sad that she was unable to use the love for her children to stay out of trouble. Hopefully her kids will have a better life without her…..what a tragic thing to be able to say.

  • I’m really sorry but she is a drain on the economy. It is awful to break up a family but I don’t think she is a positive influence on them.

  • She promised to turn her life around and didn’t even try. She knew she was doing wrong because she was hiding from the authorities. I know it’s an addiction but I believe the children will be better off without her until she gets help.

  • Sounds like her children aren’t really with her anyway, so it’s probably better for her to be out of their lives on a permanent basis as she isn’t a good role model for them.

  • Not a good situation but the mum knew what was on the cards if she didn’t change her actions

  • It’s a terrible situation but I don’t think the problem is with her drug habit, it’s the stealing that is the most concern. Since she’s addicted to the drug she’s not looking after her kids anyway. She was probably offered rehab but would have used the kids as an excuse.

  • I feel for the horrible past that she has endured and can understand how that would mess you up, but she has been given many chances and in all honesty, perhaps the children will be better off without her. I’m sure there would be many nurturing families here who would be happy to take them. The only unfortunate thing is that they probably won’t be able to stay together, but still wouldn’t anything be better than being around a druggie mum who steals for a living?

  • What about the poor children? Someone needs to step in to work out what is in the best interests of the children.

  • This is such a sad case and family situation.

  • We can’t keep expecting people who have had very damaging trauma to just be fixed without any proper help. We know better then this now, yet our system is so slow to change.

  • Is this better for the kids or not? They should have given her a chance to be put in rehab and given her a chance to recover. Sending her away from her kids is not the answer and she will likely stay on drugs to numb her pain once back in England, so unfair to the children who have to live without their mum who probably loves them more than herself. We need more mental health and drug rehabilitation programs and resources.

  • She had already promised not to do these things anymore last year and was given a reprieve to therefore stay here in Australia with her children. She has reoffended twice more – how many more times should she be offered a reprieve. As she is still showing she cannot control her behavior then it will possibly be better for her children if she was not longer here and family members can care for them.

  • Such a sad story. Clearly her past let her into this behaviour, a spiral which is very hard to break. Wonder if she had ever proper help in her life. Very sad for her 5 children as well, but hope they find love and safety living with their extended family.

    • We have 2 children under a guardianship order, who’re victims of neglect by parents who’re on drugs and ice. The eldest endured most of the neglect and we have severe problems with her. She has psychological help since 2015, so far without effect. I fear she’ll end up in the juvinile system one day or start drugs herself to num her feelings.

  • What a sad story indeed. She had a terrible past. But, sadly, she made some terrible choices too. Living without her children… it will be terrible for her. :-(
