Hello!

For a few frenetic weeks, our shopping revolved around maximising our haul of Woolworths Princess, Superhero and Star Wars Ooshies. But now the campaign has ended prematurely,  we’re keen to find some creative uses for our leftover Disney Ooshies.

We spent the last few shops honing the infamous Disney Ooshies hack – yep, the one that bought the entire campaign to an early demise. Shoppers spent the minimum transaction amount ($30) but still collected 20 or more Ooshies at the till – thanks to the bonus Ooshies and the sponsored brands.

Thank goodness, our last shop produced the final Ooshie we needed to complete our collection. We got one or two ‘rare’ glittery ones, none of the elusive super-rare ones and heaps of duplicates.

We’ve given lots of leftover Disney Ooshies away and the kids are loving playing with the rest, but it’s good to get some ideas of ways to creatively use these super-cute pencil toppers.

Display Them

If you’ve got enough leftover Disney Ooshies lying around, you may want to transform them into a work of art.

An Aussie mum has used cheap storage boxes from Kmart to make an impressive display. Kelly said she bought
eight one-litre food storage containers for $5 each to create a display tower.

She shared a photo on facebook showing the containers stacked on top of eachother with the collectables inside. To complete the clever hack, she used a $5 non-slip mat to keep the Ooshies upright.

But this leftover Disney Ooshies idea is for display-purposes only. If the kids want to play, they will need to dismantle the tower and good luck for getting them to construct it again.

Car Tyre Valves

Another keen collector has come up with yet another bright spark idea for leftover Disney Ooshies.

Corey showed how he used the collectables as car tyre valves.

Earings

Another collector was inspired to create earings out of leftover Disney Ooshies. I know my girls would go nuts over these ones.

Festive Lights

Another creative genius thought it would be a good idea to use leftover Disney Ooshies as LED Christmas tree light covers.

“Always check first with an electrician if the LED lights are OK before doing this. Most LED low voltage Christmas tree lights are safe to do this,” the poster wrote in the Woolworths Disney+universe Ooshies & Lion king Ooshie’s Australia group

“What a legend!!” one person wrote.

“We use the solar and battery LEDs for ours. I have them lit up all over my wheelchair.” another said.

Create an Animation

One tech-savvy person is creating an animation using an army of Ooshie stormtroopers.

“I’m making an animation (which is way harder than it looks).”

However the annoying thing about these particular characters is that they are colour-changing in water.

“Keeping them all white is a challenge (hot water is needed),” said the poster.

Fishing Lure

Keen angler, Mark Pace, shared on Facebook how he uses leftover Disney Ooshies for luring in fish

The fisherman posted pics and videos demonstrating how well glow-in-the-dark Ooshies work for attracting fish.

He even offered to buy any spares:

“Anyone have any glow-in-the-dark Ooshies they don’t want? Happy to pay $1 each.”

Mark’s post has been shared over 2,000 times.

Use Them To Play Chess

One super-clever clogs came up with the idea of using the Ooshies as the pieces for a chessboard.

“One way to use up our doubles! Team Star Wars vs Team Disney but time to get a bigger chess board…,” she shared in the Woolworths Disney+universe Ooshies & Lion king Ooshie’s Australia group, along with a photo showing the Star Wars Ooshies on one end and the Disney characters on the other.

“What a brilliant idea!!” read many admiring comments.

In her set-up, Mickey was King and Elsa was Queen of the Disney team and Darth Vader was partnered up with Leia.

“Shouldn’t it be Mickey with Minnie and leia would never marry Darth.” suggested one person.

“Hehe yeah we’ve been playing around with which character should be what piece.. “which one looks most Queen-like”?” the poster replied.

  • Unfortunately I didn’t get any Ooshies. I shop once a month and the first time they forgot to put them in my order and by the second shop the campaign was finished.
