Jessica Simpson gets real about the difficulties of recovering from a c-section.

Jessica recently welcomed her third child, a baby girl she called, “Birdie Mae.”

Just two weeks after the birth Jessica is opening up on social media about the reality of recovering from a C-Section.

“I’m feeling thankful for these two older siblings looking over their new baby sister,” she wrote alongside a photo of her older kids.

“I think we all get so carried away with the excitement of having a new baby that we forget that we are going in for major surgery,” she added.

“Then on top of that, we get home from the hospital, have to recover from the surgery, balance our new life as a parent to three kids and be a wife.”

She then goes on to promote a new app she claims has been quite helpful to her of late.

“I’m so grateful to the @peanut community for helping me tackle this new life and supporting me as a mother of three!

“The @peanut app is an amazing support to connect with other mums and get advice. The app introduces you to women in your neighborhood based on the things you have in common.”

Recovering from a C-Section is no joke! I’m feeling thankful for these two older siblings looking over their new baby sister. The app introduces you to women in your neighborhood based on the things you have in common. I have been chatting with other moms in my same situation and they have been answering my questions. It is so nice to be able to relate to a community of moms and moms-to-be who are going through the same things as me. Go check it out. #peanutapp

  • I had a vaginal birth but needed an episiotomy, then got an infection so I couldnt sit down properly for about 8 weeks. It was awful so I might even contemplate a c-section for my next one.

  • I opted for vaginal births (if possible, which luckily they were) for my second and third after the emergency c-section I had with my first. Much, much better recovery. Moving around was excruciating not having painkillers that worked due to breastfeeding. When I first got out of bed it felt like all my insides dropped down. Ugh. I don’t know how women opt for c-sections again and again. Must be tougher than me!

  • Women don’t realise how serious a C section is. I’d take labour any day over a C section

  • No easy way to have a baby! But as a c section mumma major surgery isn’t fun.

  • 3 Natural deliveries, can not imagine the pain and care you would need to take of yourself and a new baby. Certainly would require a bit of extra help until you are healed properly.

  • 3 births and no c sections. I can’t imagine the recovery :(

  • I didn’t know she was pregnant with her 3rd. C-section is longer to recover. I’m glad she’s got support around her. Congratulations by the way.

  • Indeed. Recovering from vaginal birth it’s easier than from a C-section.

  • It’s a major surgery and if everyone recognizes this Mums might be given more help to recover.

  • Giving birth is so hard, it’s amazing to have people in your life that helps you

  • Unless it’s medically necessary why would anyone subject themselves to the pain and recovery with a newborn

  • C-sections are hard, mine was in an emergency & I couldn’t bend, stretch, drive, climb stairs or do much for weeks after that. Good on her for opening up.
