Nothing wrong with kids being bored and sorting out for themselves what they want to do.

There are some really great ideas there. Some for your kids to do on their own and some to include all the family. Fantastic guys!

If I was paid just $0.50 every time I have heard that I would be very rich by now and I’m sure a lot of you would too.

My 9yr old is always bored unless someone plays with her, she so struggles to occupy herself. For years I hang a list with suggested activities for her in the livingroom to give her ideas, it didn’t help.

  These are some nice ideas for primary school kids, My teenage kids get a bit bored at the end of the holiday now and I’m afraid I’ve not much time to go out with them, as many activities are not suitable for my youngest who has Down Syndrome. My 9yr old has some major problems, she goes 3 or 4 days per week to vacation care.

Love the chalk idea, that’s always a winner. And the jar of idea’s is a great idea, especially for school holidays.

Some cool idea. I have a boredom jar at home with a ratio of fun activities to do and also chores. So if a kid dare to whinge they are bored they get to pick out a card and have to do what is on it. lol. It certainly curtails their whinging.

What a great selection of ideas, as the holidays are getting further in it is nice to find things to keep busy but don’t really cost any money.

Ooh, when my son says I’m Bored, I reply: too bad. Find something to do. I then reel off many things he can do – eg. clean his room, sort through toys/dvds etc., nothing that he’s happy with. Once upon a time we created a jar with a list of things to do when bored. You just pulled one out and had to do that activity. Didn’t last very long though.

Cannot suggest anything for this site. My children had previously planned ideas for during their holidays, and we managed to stick by that routine. But they loved the outdoors, so one major thing a week seemed to be enough – horse riding, sailing, cooking, prawning, friends over, etc. It worked for us.

I like the Flower Pot Family Tree idea.

Going geocaching is a wonderful way to do something together with the kids and go into the nature!
