We were trying to buy shoes for our kids using an online shopping site this week and we were so confused about the different shoe size guides. So to make things simpler, we’ve put together a kids’ shoe size conversion guide.
There are generally three kinds of shoe sizes that you will encounter – EU, UK and US sizes. Generally, the Australian sizes are the same as the UK sizes. But you need to know what your child’s US and EU equivalent shoe size is, because many shoes styles come in EU or US sizes.
Use our kids’ shoe size conversion guide to accurately find out child’s shoe size. But before you do this, it’s a good idea to measure your child’s foot first.
How To Measure A Child’s Foot
- Sit your child down, then place a piece of paper in front of them.
- Trace around the foot using a pencil. Ensure you hold the pencil as straight up as possible whilst tracing and ensure the pencil remains in contact with your child’s foot while you are tracing.
- Then with a ruler measure the distance between the base of the heel and the tip of the big toe. This distance is the length of your child’s foot and you can use this to determine your kids’ shoe size.
- To measure the width, mark the sides of the foot at the widest part. Then measure the marks for the widest part of your child’s foot.
Keep in mind that measuring your child’s foot is a guide, not a guarantee. It can help you with determining your child’s size, but nothing can take the place of going into the shop for a proper fitting and trying on the shoes.
