Do you remember tasting Vegemite for the first time?

While most of us were introduced to the spread’s unique taste very early on, these American kids couldn’t understand it’s appeal.

Watch their hilarious reactions in the Kids vs. Vegemite video below:

Do your kids love Vegemite? Or do they pull similar faces to these kids?

  • We grew up on vegemite toast, hover over the toaster, quickly butter and a light scrape of vegemite and your in heaven

  • After Vegemite was first introduced they had to tell the public to spread it thinly, and it seems they need to tell the crew in the video too!

  • I made vegemite on toast for overseas friends of mine (French, Mexican, Canadian, South African). I converted the French and Mexican friends by ensuring the vegemite was spread thinly – they have asked for it multiple times since their first tastes. My Canadian friend decided to dip a teaspoon in the jar and try and eat a spoonful- after that, he wouldn’t try it on toast. My South African friend said no no no no.
I love it, so does my son and husband.

  • Why doesn’t somebody tell the American people that vegemite is not meant to be spread on thickly? You should be able to see the butter beneath it. No wonder they don’t like it.
