Building our confidence is about being kind to ourselves, exploring who we are, and believing in ourselves and our capabilities. But, who are you? What is it that you are want in life and where are you going? Are you living the life you always dreamed you’d be living? Have you got what you want? Are you the person you always wished you’d become? Do you feel you are in the perfect place?

No?

Well you’re not alone.

In truth is, few people are 100% content with where they’re at and there’s a very good reason for that. If we were completely happy, we would stop growing, learning, exploring, discovering and being curious. We’re works in progress! Sometimes I feel like life is perfect, but every now and then I’ll feel off centre, off kilter. Mostly, my cup is full of happiness and contentment, but there’s always room for improvement and I LOVE that – it’s exciting to know there are more adventures for me to experience! I’m 95% happy, but there’s still so much I want to do, to explore and discover.

If you’re mostly feeling like life is fun, and if your life is mostly full of joy, if your heart is mostly singing, if you’re mostly at peace, then it’s a GREAT indication you’re on the right path and making the right choices. And that is fantastic!!! Woohoo! Happy days! But, if you’re not happy with where you are right now, or, if you want to be more, do more and have more, then I hope this article helps provide you with some inspiration, direction, strategy and the motivation to shift your level of contentment into a higher percentage.

If you’re asking – why do we need goals? What’s the point? Are goals really all that important? The answer is YES, I believe goals ARE important. They give our life purpose; they are the fabric of our lives. A person without purpose often feels lost –a lost soul. You need goals – destinations, things to focus on get enthused about, drive towards. You can’t arrive at your destination, if you don’t know what it is or where it is. And who better to plan out or design your life map than you? So where do you we start? How do we set goals?

‘It’s not about what’s on you; it’s about what’s in you.’ Rachael Bermingham

It doesn’t matter what your goals are, as long as they resonate deeply within your heart. Your goal might be to be to start a business, pay off your house, finish your university degree, get fit, go on more holidays! It could be that you want to be the country’s next billionaire! Wow! It doesn’t matter what it is, as long as you feel deeply and passionate about it, and it is what you truly desire.

“The first step to having more happiness more balance and more success is to set goals.” Rachael Bermingham

So start writing! List out at least 5 goals right now that REALLY resonate with who you are. Don’t take into consideration ANYONE else when doing this, not your partner, your peers, your family – you need to think about goals from your very own space for them to be ‘right’. Next add a timeline to each of them too – a goal without a timeline is just a wish so make sure you link it to a date when you wish to achieve that goal by. Print it out or write them out and put them in a place you will see them EVERY day.

  • Thank you for your article. I really found this at the right time as I’m approaching 40 (in days) and I’m feeling very lost – generally happy – but also lost.
