AN ambulance worker has shared a potentially lifesaving car seat tip every parent needs to know.

She said the hack could make all the difference if the family is ever involved in a terrible motor accident.

Kaitlyn, from Indiana, US, says parents should write a short note with details about their kid and stick it to their car seat.

Writing on Facebook, she said: “Way too often do emergency crew come upon a car wreck with children who are too young to have any information and parents are unconscious.

“It will take two minutes of your time to write out your child’s name, DOB, parents name, DOB, emergency contacts and any medical conditions, any meds your child is on and child’s doctor – then stick it to the child’s car seat.

“This helps EMS (Emergency Medical Services) a ton and can also help save your child’s life.”

  • This is a brilliant idea. I work with special needs children and this is something that their paretns should do also.

  • This gave me goosebumps. Great idea but out of experience from ambulance workers who have been through this scenario before.

  • Definitely also include allergies. I know a little one who is highly allergic to iboprufen. It leeches out of your skin for 10 hours. If anybody who has taken it touches her she will definitely have problems breathing and could go into Anaphaelixic shock. Females should carry their information in their handbag and Males in their wallets.

  • I have been thinking about this for a long time, and how I could offer it as either a “print your own” or we do it for you service, but it has never gotten past the thought process,

  • Something so simple and yet i would never have thought of doing it. I think for a child of any age this would be handy considering in many scary situations they may not want to talk to a stranger even if that person is there to help. This is great thankyou so much for sharing.
