Hello!

A huge congratulations to Lorelei – one of the Mouths of Mums contributors.  She’s expecting her fourth child this winter!  And knowing her, she’ll sail through and still be contributing all sorts of beautiful craft, kitchen treats and birthday wonders.  This post, she shows us just how easy it can be to jazz up any outfit with a spiral scarf …

Ok I think I’m a little obsessed with spiral scarfs! This time I wanted to try a crochet one when I found a pattern in an old copy of Spotlight’s ‘Get Creative’ magazine. If you don’t have any of their magazines there are also a few free patterns on the net if you search for ‘crochet spiral scarf pattern’ like here and here. For most of them it’s pretty simple, you crochet a long chain and then treble crochet into each one along the chain, then the next row you do two treble crochet into each and the same again on the next row so you end up with a spiral.

I had this yarn in my stash already which was also from Spotlight. Easy to crochet and it went together very quickly.  This scarf has a light and lacy feel to it compared with my last spiral scarf which was knitted.

Can you notice the bulging tummy? I’m pregnant with our fourth child! Yes we’re very excited to be expecting a winter baby for a change. That being said you can expect a few baby items on the blog over the next 6 months but I can’t promise that this will be my last spiral scarf as I’m thinking I’d like to make a soft white feminine one with a decorative edge to it. Yes I’m still hooked on crochet at the moment and usually when I’m pregnant I love to cross stitching to relax me but this time I’ve gone crochet crazy. Hope you’re enjoying the projects.

Is anyone else keen to try and make a spiral scarf? Or anything else for that matter.  Visit Lolly’s blog at www.craftsmumship.com

  • I love the wool. I wonder how it would knit up? I used to crochet but am much more comfortable with knitting needles

  • I love crochet. Not a fan of this scarf though. I do have a similar scarf, one that was knitted for me by my daughter

  • I love the wool! I do enjoy crochet but haven’t done it for years. My daughter knitted me a spiral scarf, in a pretty pink colour. It comes in handy during winter
