Hello!

Today I resemble a character from a bad horror movie.  Last night’s sleep was disturbed – to say the least. My beautiful, 10 month old princess is currently more closely resembling a snorting, sniffling baby warthog. As a result, my night consisted of cuddling, soothing, panadol; cuddling, soothing, panadol; cuddling, soothing – you get the picture.

There is nothing like the curve ball of a sick bubba to remind you that being a mother is a ‘learning on the job’ scenario. It is my most important role to date and one I freely admit to not knowing everything about. I learn something new every day about my daughter Siarra and me, and I’m only 11 months in.

The bonus of being up most of the night is that I got to think about my first blog and what an honour it is to be involved with Mouths Of Mums. As a television presenter and event producer I can be prepared for and adapt to any script, but as you all know being a mum is unpredictable and you can’t always be in the driver’s seat. This realization does make for some great stories – all of which I look forward to sharing with you. I love a challenge and can’t wait to sink my teeth into some topical ‘mummy’ issues that I hope you can all relate too.

I am also going to keep my eye on what celebrity mums are up to. From crazy baby names, trends, fashion, post baby fitness – the works – and I welcome your thoughts and comments. As for me, my current weary face and panda eyes will go on another day. Nothing a strong coffee and a lathering of hemorrhoid cream on those dark circles won’t fix.

The good news is that Siarra is almost back to her princess self this morning. Must have been all the mummy cuddles she got last night.

  • Nothing is guaranteed more to make a Mum feel like she’s been dragged through a bush backwards, than to have a sick child (or two) during the night. Love that MoM has real mums sharing their lives and advice.
