The problem with Christmas is that once you’re finished with all the fabulous decorations you have to store them somewhere. A solution to that dilemma is to create items that can be reused again later for a whole different purpose.

This lovely Christmas bauble frame can be used during the festive season and then pulled apart and the frame used for something else once you’re finished. It’s super simple to make and looks fabulous, change the frame colour and the bauble colour and you have a whole different look. Choose elements that suit your décor.

You’ll need:

  • A set of Christmas Baubles (glass ones look gorgeous), go for small sized ones that will fit in to the back of the frame
  • A box frame in a colour that suits your décor
  • Sticky tape
  • String, ribbon or jute (whatever suits your décor)
  • Flat head screwdriver
  • Scissors

Take the frame and remove the backing from it, keep this in a safe place for later so you can reuse the frame for another purpose. If your frame has a string for hanging that will be seen through the glass, you’ll need to remove it. You can place the string up higher behind the mounting board so you can’t see it as the frame will not have a backing once you’re finished. You can simply the cut the string or remove the staples with a flat head screwdriver (be careful not to cut yourself if you are trying to remove them)

Step 2

Replace the string on the frame, you’ll need a new string if you cut the old one off. A piece of kitchen twine will work. Use a staple gun to affix the string. You’ll need to put at least two staples in each side of the string to hold it place, make sure you pull the string really tight when you are stapling it so it doesn’t stretch when you hang the frame.

Step 3

Take the original strings from the baubles which will have a double string to hang over them over the Christmas tree branches and re-hang with only one end attached (you may like to use a d

ifferent string or ribbon). Turn your frame over so the glass is facing the table. Arrange the baubles in different heights onto the mounting board with the frame and using sticky tape attach the strings at different heights, cut the strings down to suit the hanging length. I have used two different string colours in my frame, one matches the blue of the baubles and the other the silver in the frame mounting.

Step 4

Press down the little tabs that hold the backing board in place to get them out of the way. Hang the frame without it’s backing board so you see your wall through frame (it won’t fit with the baubles in place and it looks great to see the wall through the frame) That’s it, you’re Christmas Bauble Frame is done!

Once Christmas is over you can simply remove the baubles carefully from the mounting board and use the frame for something else, just remember where you put the backing board!
