It has been reported that a Facebook post exploded into a full-blown fist fight between parents at a children’s netball game in NSW.

The fight unfolded at a junior netball final at the Equex Centre in Wagga Wagga on Saturday afternoon.

According to local media reports, three men came to blows at the family-friendly event shortly after midday.

A man holding a five-day-old baby is alleged to have triggered the violence by spitting in a second man’s face.

The second man then allegedly lashed out and attacked the father who was holding the newborn baby.

Witnesses recalled hearing the father say: “I’m holding a baby. Stop!” before a third man came to his aid.

Witnesses told the Daily Advertiser the man could be heard saying: “This is all over one thing I posted on Facebook”.

The man who was punched to the ground was treated at the scene by paramedics.

Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in the assault.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.

  • And these are adults? Must be embarrassing when you are surrounded by so many children who are all more mature.

  • disgusting that a grown man holding a newborn would start a fight – was the fight even about the netball match? from the sounds of it it was something else stemming from facebook that just blew up at the wrong time. Needless to say through regardless of the cause – grown men fighting and risking the lives of a newborn and people around them – just plain stupid!

  • How pathetic of him to start a fight while holding his baby. Disgusting behaviour.

  • This is repulsive behaviour and all too common at children’s sporting events. My daughter dropped out of netball because of the unhealthy, competitive environment of win at all costs.

  • what disgusting behaviour! Luckily no harm came to the baby or and other innocent families in the vicinity
