You’ll never guess why Duchess Meghan is being mum-shamed!

Duchess Meghan Markle is being mum-shamed for the way she held her newborn son Archie Mountbatten-Windsor during the baby’s first public outing, with critics insisting it looked like she was going to drop him.

The 37-year-old new mum was photographed cradling her baby boy and planting a tender kiss on his head while they joined Kate Middleton and her three children at Billingbear Polo Club in Wokingham, Surrey, on Wednesday to watch Prince William and Prince Harry go head-to-head in the King Power Royal Charity Polo Day.

After numerous outlets published photos of the Duchess Meghan of Sussex with Archie, people turned to Instagram to criticise the way she was holding him.

‘Meghan looks like she’s about to drop him,’ one Instagram user wrote.

While another added: ‘She’s gonna drop that baby.’ (I have to admit I did think the same thing when I first saw the images!)

‘Meghan doesn’t know how to carry her own baby! Such a shame,’ someone else commented.

One person noted: ‘The way little Archie is being held. Scary.’

Although Duchess Meghan seemed to be nothing but affectionate while holding her baby boy, critics couldn’t resist pointing out all of the things they thought she was doing wrong.

‘She should have put a hat and socks on the poor baby!!’ one person griped. ‘She is also not able to hold the baby.’

‘You can tell she doesn’t even take care of her own kid. What kind of mother holds their baby like that,’ someone else cruelly commented.

Fans jumped to defend the new mum

Many royal fans jumped to Duchess Meghan Markle’s defence telling people to give the new mum a break.

‘There are moms out there who didn’t know how to pick [up] their baby for months either, it’s a process so give her a break,’ the person wrote. ‘Royals are humans too.’

‘She’s a brand new mother. Stop the damn mom shaming! Jesus,’ someone else commented.

‘She could be a natural at home but she’s probably trying to shelter from the cameras and the judgment,’ she added. ‘I’m guessing no one can see it from that point of view since you are all perfect parents.’

  • It all looks fine to me. If she was swinging him around by one arm then speak up. Otherwide people just stay in your perfect lives with your perfect children and keep your perfect advice to yourself. Perfect.

  • Seriously some people need to mind their own business and get a life.

  • I think people have too much time on their hands nowadays-she is a new mum and learning. I doubt that she would have dropped her baby! People need to get a life and not be so critical.

  • I doubt the media were given permission to take this photo. Anybody can put comments on Instagram. it may not have been put on by the family. All first time Mums are nervous when holding and carrying a newborn. Perhaps Meghan could have supported Archie’s head a little more. We don’t know what the weather is like over there so we don’t know if more clothing was needed. Media, respect their privacy…..if you know how.

  • Seriously! STOP with the negative comments. Why can we not just appreciate these as lovely family photos. The outrage is just ridiculous.

  • Did those people even think it was the only way she could hold him for some reason? Maybe he is only comfortable being held like this. This is just a form of bullying which can push a person towards depression.

  • Poor woman. She’s a first time mum, probably still learning lots and he could have been squirming or had reflux or the photographers where a- holes who wanted to make a bad story out of her and snapped her while she was changing positions.
    I hate the media

  • Let the one who is perfect throw the first stone – none of us are perfect with our first baby.

  • I think she doesn’t look comfortable, maybe she was mid position change when they snapped that pic

  • Seems okay to me, why do they have to post on Instagram anyway, just to get attacked by ignorant people.

  • People need to have a long hard look at their own lives as they obviously need something to fill it

  • Oh my goodness, I don’t think it looks like she’s going to drop him. Maybe a little awkward but I don’t see why anyone cares lol, I’ve looked at photos of me holding my kids/babies and it looked a little awkward like that, but at the time it felt perfectly normal haha
    People just love to judge

  • wow yet another example of women being cruel to new mum’s – just because you have children does not make you an expert – no mum is an expert of raising children – we all learn new things as we go along, we all make mistakes, we all feel like the crappy mum who doesn’t do enough etc etc

But you as mum’s should recognise that hearing/reading negative comments isn’t really helpful at this new mum stage. How about being KIND and SUPPORTIVE and providing ADVICE in a FRIENDLY way – maybe that’s what’s wrong with society these days everyone knows exactly how to be nasty and cruel but everyone seems to have forgotten how to be nice and friendly and kind – such a shame
