Hello!

Was put in to hospital for a febrile seizure but during the seizure had to be given mouth to mouth we were told he had the flu ( he’s fully vaccinated ) plus he was teething. A few weeks past & he start to zone out & vomit but would turn blue & take 5 mins to come good & back to self, we have been put on medication for reflux but have been in hospital twice for vomiting & turning blue & the last he started shaking like a fit. Just wondering if someone’s experienced something similar?

  • My daughter had febrile convulsions as a tiny tot.
She never turned blue after vomitting but did during the fits.

As she got older, she started to show other signs, such as ‘zoning out’ (like a daydream she couldnt snap out of) and eventually some body jerking, mainly when she was sick or tired, but could happen at anytime.
Took her to a specialist and they have said its an a-typical form of epilepsy.

Speak with your GP and get a referal to a paediatric specialist. Try and get video if you can so they can see snd try to keep a diary to see if there are any ‘triggers’ (time of day, when sick/ tired etc)
    Best thing we ever did.

  • I would be getting a referral to a specialist – this is definetly not a normal reaction.

  • Hope he’s better now. what is the latest on his health?

  • If this continues to happen after he finishes teething and recover what the hospital staff thought was flu I would definitely take him back to hospital. If he is unconscious or semi-conscious for 5 minutes he needs to be observed at a hospital. I know of a family who had this issue with their son. He was rushed to hospital by Ambulance. They had to administer cpr on at least 2 occasions before he was put on the stretcher. Eventually after doing scans they discovered the cause was inner ear infections which can only be diagnosed by scan. Febrile Convulsions can be common during teething or bad illness. He may have a form of Epilepsy. If so the sooner it is controlled the better he will be.

  • I think fits and convulsions are not uncommon in young children who have a fever. They’re really scarey but the hospital would have fixed him I’m sure

  • So sorry to hear this. Hope everything is okay now.

  • It sounds like you are not getting the help you need. Keep persisting with hospital visits until you get more sufficient answers. I hope all turns out for the best xx

  • No, that sounds awful. Hope you’re ok.

  • No it sounds scary and dreadful. Seek other professional opinions if your gut doesn’t feel right

  • That sounds dreadful – take him to hospital and demand help.

  • I’m sorry to hear what you’ve gone through. I haven’t had anything similar happen, so can’t really offer any advice, but I hope you can get answers as to what’s happening with your baby. I wish you both well.
