Hello!

Just wondering what everyone else is doing, including bottles, for an 18 month old. Does anyone have a routine for an 18 month old that they can share that works for them?

  • You can start by giving them milk in a sippy between meals if needed. Graudally give more water and cut down on the milk. Your toddler is probably getting enough calcium from foods such as yoghurt and some vegetables contain clacium too. Not all toddlers/young children like cheese. Can can give milk with breakfast and before bedtime before they go to bed. It works for some. We just had to be patient and persist with it.

  • yeah i took cues from bub and have a routine

  • Thank you for your replies

  • My daughter is now nearly three but I do remember her routine at 18 months as that’s when I phased out the bottles! Here is a rough idea of what I was doing then..hope it helps!
    7am wake breakfast, 9am morning snack, 10:30am morning nap 1 1/2 hrs
12pm lunch 2pm afternoon snack, 3pm afternoon nap 1 1/2 hours 5:30-6pm dinner 6:30pm bath then story and asleep by 7pm
As I phased out the bottles I made sure she was getting enough calcium with milk in her breakfast and usually a yoghurt for an afternoon snack and sometimes cheese in her lunch.

  • Breakfast, lunch, tea with and afternoon and a morning snack. Bottles of milk at bedtime. Works fir me, although they say bedtime bottles aren’t great for their teeth :/
