Hello!

“Hi, am wondering if you can ask Mums some advice on getting my 19 month old daughter to not only fall asleep but stay asleep during the night. We go through the same nightly routine with her each night, 7pm bath, dress, brush hair and teeth, read a book and settle to sleep. It can take up to an hour to get her to settle. Have tried tough love and each time we leave the room she screams the house down, this can go on for an hour or so until you stay sitting beside her in her bed until she nods off. She constantly looks to see if we are still there. She then wakes anywhere between 2-4 times during the night. We go through the same issue, she screams the house down and last night it was for over 2 hours of going in and out of her room to settle her. Eventually my husband went in and slept beside her. We have a 10 week old baby as well and she is waking the whole house and making it hard for everyone! This isn’t new since my bub was born she has never been a good sleeper but now it’s getting tough! Any advice or tried methods would be greatly appreciated! ” What to do if a 19 month old wakes in the night ?

  • My daughter used to be the same and putting her to bed a bit later seemed to help and also giving her a snack an hour before bed time seemed to help her sleep longer.
