Hello!

“My 2 year old used to jump with excitment over a thunderstorm, but now hides and gets upset. I have no idea what has changed , but would love some advice on how to get her back to loving them!” What would you do if your 2 year old is scared of thunderstorms ?

  • If it were me, I’d act a little startled when thunder strikes, but then quickly laugh it off to show my little one that loud sounds do frighten me but that they are not a big deal.

  • With our kids, whenever there is a thunderstorm, we try and stay as calm as possible and keep doing whatever we were doing so it doesn’t really appear to be out of the normal. if our kids are a little stressed, we offer for them to sit on the couch and cuddle with us, still though acting as though things are normal. Really seems to help =)

  • Our son was terrified of storms so we told Mr 3 Year Old that thunder is his Great Nanna dancing in heaven.
Now when we get a thunderstorm he yells stop dancing so loud nanny.

  • My daughter went through this and we took her out on the verandah to watch and made it all exciting
