Hello!

HELP! I have a 3.5 year old who is constantly waking during the night. It’s happening about 5-6 times. He wakes and doesn’t want to go back to his own bed. He doesn’t say he is scared or anything, he just wants to be with us (me and hubby). I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem, if its just a phase and he’ll get over it, or do I need to be doing something? We take him back to his bed, tuck him in but within an hour he’s awake and wandering again. We are very tired and so is he which means he is very grumpy during the day… Any ideas?

  • It’s probably a phase, a very tiring one though. Can you secure him in the bed any way? Side bars or something? Does he have day naps? You could try cutting them out so he’s more tired for fed at night. Hope you sort it soon :/

  • I always take my daughter back to her bed and lay with her for a few minutes and go. I think it is important to be consistent.

  • hope you have sorted this, we are at a similar place with my daughter

  • How are you going now?

  • maybe one of you need to sleep in his bed when he does that until he falls asleep and then go back to yours

  • Have you had any luck with any of the advice below?

  • How is he going now?

  • It is most probably a phase that he will grow out of, though he may not be very tired.

  • :P Wanted to know aswell, thanks for posting.

  • Keep the light on and send him back to bed

  • it could be a phase as you said they are not scared, unwell etc. be matter of fact and they will soon realise it is not worth getting up if no cuddles
