  • I’m glad you asked ! i’ve been wondering the same thing . my girlfriend has one and swears by it … i regularly almost talk myself into buying one …. then change my mind ! Interesting reading all the comments

  • I don’t have one but would like to one to see what it is like!

  • BUY! i love it! it is sooo much quicker then waiting for the oven to heat up to cook chips and uses less electricity then the oven!

  • Thank you all for your replies as I have been told I need to get one as I am sick of cooking and you can put in your meal and it doesn’t take long to cook and I have wondered what they are like – so peoples opinions are helpful.

  • I’ve been interested in this too so thanks for posting this question. I suspect I would just use it for chips too and as mentioned previously, I can just use my oven for that.

  • Am old fashion and I just prefer to use my oven and reduce having electric appliances in the house.

  • I have had people rave about the Phillips XL air fryer. Great for chips but I’m also interested in what else it can do besides chips

  • My sister in law mentioned this one time and she said it is suppose to be a healthy way of frying . But always wary of new lines and good if you can borrow one first before purchasing I think .

  • I don’t have one myself, but my in-laws do and they love it!

  • My Aunty has one and it is brilliant, although she does use it mainly for chips. I was keen to get one but then realised I would probably only use it for chips too and that I can use my oven for that so decided to save my money. They are a great alternative to a deep fryer and if you eat that style of food then I would say that it would be a great gadget to have.

  • I don’t have one but like you I am interested to know how they work. I would love to try one to see how well they work.

  • I haven’t had a deep fryer in my house for over 20 years and have been waiting for the price to come down on these so I can get one. My friend swears by hers and uses it all the time, I don’t mind waiting the extra time, better than having everything dripping in oil

  • The air fryer is meant to be a more healthy option for cooking than deep frying but still encourages everyday choices that I think are less healthy than fresh salads, raw vegetables, steamed and boiled fish, grilled meats etc. So I wouldn’t say it is really useful. So many healthy meals just can’t be prepared in it. Apart from healthy eating choices think about running costs, ease of cleaning, space it takes up and portion sizes you can prepare.

  • I have the Phillips one and I love it! I use it every day at least once a day.
I can’t imagine to not have one in my kitchen. It is very practical and cooks healthier and quickly. I really recommend it.

  • I see lots of people say yes it’s good, but honestly… I bought an Air Fryer when they first came out… Cost me $399… Biggest waste of money I’d ever spent! I ended up selling it a year later for $50. I’d used it twice, and both times were a great disappointment. :/ To make chips takes 30 minutes, which is what it takes in the oven, and it’s the same texture as oven-baked… Not nice at all. Slightly soggy, and somewhat under cooked… unpleasant. :(
I tried cooking a chicken, like the manual said, and it ended up raw inside and dried out on the outside, after 2 hours in the machine. Lol.

I don’t want to rain on your parade, but for me personally, ugh. I wouldn’t waste your money. Maybe invest in a pressure cooker or something similar.
Hopefully this has helped give the other side of the story. :)
