Hello!

Hi there! Once a week, on Tuesdays, I have my 4 year old at home, alone. He has 3 siblings – 1 older and 2 younger. On Tuesdays he is bored and wants stuff to do, but it is getting too hot to really go outside. We try and do trips to the library but he is getting bored. What are some fun activities that we can do that are simple and inexpensive? Or even some games to play 1 on 1? Thanks heaps for any help.

  • What about a walk outside, feeding the ducks, playgrounds, puzzles, blocks, toilet roll and egg box crafts, finger painting, window painting. I had mine also painting the fences with diluted water paint at that age. Also a cubby house, ride ones, swing set and climbing frame in the garden was a life safer at that time.

  • I used to put on puppet shows with my daughter. They were lots of fun and spurred on her imagination.

  • I’d have a look on pinterest. They have some super easy kids craft as well as activities to amuse kids. There are some great ideas on there.

  • The card game Uno is pretty good for all ages. Your local museum would be a cheap and interesting place to visit. Reading books. I Spy is a time filler. The occasional DVD. Colouring in. Some simple kitchen activities. Play dough, I love play dough! Jigsaw puzzles. Mr Squiggle, you take turns drawing a squiggle for the other to make into a picture, one I often play with my kids

  • yeah there are 3d pens now, check them out. you can build things with them, they are cool. get a kid pool and let him splash in that.

  • Do you know the blo pens? They are quite some fun for the kids! :-)

  • Loving the idea for the cubby house =) Drawing and craft is good, but he gets bored of drawing real easy and craft – we do salt dough, home made play dough, sticker play, painting. Any other ideas for crafts?

  • Cubby house play is an awesome idea. Craft and drawing is also good fun.

  • Let him build a cubby house. Provide him with boxes, blankets, pillows. And let’s see what his imagination can do! :-)
