Hello!

I am having trouble toilet training my twins. They tell me when they have already gone but never when they are needing to go! I’m trying a sticker chart which is exciting for them but hasn’t helped much. I’m not sure what to do.  This morning I took one to the toilet, said a poo was coming but nothing, back to the playroom and the other twin had done a poo!

  • You poor thing. It’s hard enough toilet trading one toddler at a time let alone two. Be persistent and wait around 20 mins after solids feed and take them. If you only have one toilet maybe try the potty that way you can have both on at same time but the. You need to adjust them from potty to toilet but I think that’s better than accidents.

  • Maybe take them at the same time. then they can see each other on the toilet. Being twins they tend to copy each other so this may help – good luck

  • They said to do it one at a time like only one twin to do it then try the second one. Also they suggested to try them on with pants without nappy and let them wet themselves and get uncomfortable until they realize they need to go to toilet

  • Some kids take longer than others to get the concept of toilet training, training pants are great and I found the best thing for my son was a mini toilet seat that just went over the normal toilet was more appealing than a potty. Work with them and listen to them you will all figure it out!

  • Haha, it must be so difficult with two! How old are they?
I think the best thing to do it to make it fun and not put pressure on them.
Most people have tried all sorts of tricks and bribes but every child is different so there is no fool proof way unfortunately. keep the potty out where they have easy access, as they usually don’t know until its already started so often don’t have time to get to the loo. If it’s warm, let them wee outside while they get the hang of it. Good luck!

  • I had twin boys (know 24yrs)they found toilets fascinating so they were always there.they started training there 2nd summer, little boys knickers and a lot of time out side(for accidents).the boys did everything together so my suggestion is to put a potty in the toilet so when one goes so does the other.it works for some

  • I know it might sound bad but I put the potty in front of the TV at first then after a week moves it into the bathroom. It worked as she was happy to sit on it as there was something else to focus on. But after a week she just had to search for it elsewhere.

  • How old are they? Have they been showing signs of wanting to go? Maybe get them. Their own Pottys(different colours)..make sure every hour or two you make it a fun excursion just to sit for a few mins.. Don’t fuss, as they need to feel comfortable going.
