Hello!

Does anyone have any good ideas/recipes to cook with a kindergarten class? They are aged 3 – 5. We have made playdough but I am thinking something more edible? Of course I know I must keep in mind allergies but we are fine in that area! Would appreciate edible or non edible ideas!!!

  • I think there are no limitations. You can involve kids nearly in all baking cooking and food preparing !

  • No bake options are good – there are a few good no bake recipes on here and on taste.com

  • What about home made icecream . They can make it with their own flavours. Very creative ideas about classes I think .

  • Chocolate crackles are great, not hot things involved. Cupcakes would be good too, they could do all the mixing and putting into patty pans. Then when they’re cooled, they can have fun decorating

  • Sandwiches with simple fillings that they can then use cooki cutters and create shapes or designes

  • I would suggest pikelets, a basic biscuit or cupcakes. Small things that are easy to mix and easy for little people to decorate.

  • Cutters & cut out fruit shapes ,ideas are endless.

  • I make a big batch of biscuit dough and let them decide what to add or decorate with – eg: sultanas, sprinkles, choc bits etc. I often make these: https://mouthsofmums.com.au/recipe/choc-chip-cookies/

  • Mini sausage rolls are easy, they can mix sausage meat and grate veggies into it. They can then spoon mix on pastry and roll up. So easy and tasty!!

  • My kinder has invited parents ideas for this, they have also asked mums with their special skill to come in show the kids how its done. So far they have had pasta day made from scratch then a snall amount sent home for mums to cook. Fried rice with the rice pre cooked and all the veggies and sauces etc added with the help of the kids. Rice paper vegie rolls the kids havee loved it.

  • Simple things like drop scones or plain cup cakes are good. Even pizza made with lebanese bread where the children do the toppings. Anything with not too many ingredients or steps is good!

  • Biscuts with icing to spread on them! And then stick lollies on them!

  • Pizzas on pitta bread or muffens are a winner the kiddie can help pick there on toppings and add them to there own pizza.Sausage Rolls are also a winner with hidden vegetables hidden inside :0

  • My favourite easy baking recipe to look up would be pancakes/pikelets with cream and jam :)

  • I was asked to make pasta with my sons class! It was very enjoyable. The all had a turn at kneading the dough and putting it through the machine. Then they cooked it up and enjoyed it as a small snack!
Other ideas that they have done at my sons kindy include piklets, scones, cookies (simple like choc chip), or just a basic cake.
