Hello!

I find it difficult to brush my 15 month old sons teeth (yes he nearly has all of them). I try singing him songs or play games and changed toothpastes as well. Any ideas to help me would be great. Is he to young for a reward chart?

  • Ooh I’m going through this right now! Modelling brushing your own teeth helps, as does giving then the brush to fo it themselves

  • Try humming instead of singing. It supresses the gag reflex.

  • Make a list of things to do on the fridge, and add the tooth brushing. Let Bubs stick a star on when he does it! Then a high five… No money, or wanky crap…

  • I’d suggest making it sound like fun and brushing your teeth as well so that your child copies.

  • Make it a game, who can brush he longest, flow the leader (so they have to copy you) or you brush mine and I will do yours. Worked in our house.

  • I’m going through this now! What worked? I use a little toothpaste on my finger and let her hold the brush, if I’m lucky she’ll chew it. I then use a soft cloth to rub on her teeth but I think she’ll take my finger off one day – their teeth are so sharp!

  • maybe try letting him do it first.

  • The Macleans Nurdle app is a great little tune. My 2 year old likes me to tickle her teeth and sing a little crazy song I make up as I do it to keep her smiling to get it done

  • We used Aussie Natural Toothpaste started with a baby toothbrush that bub chewed on first. After a while
they just copied the actions. Bit hard for them to spit it out. All natural toothpaste is best as it they swallow it won’t hurt them,

  • sometimes you need bribing :P

  • What did you end up finding that worked?

  • I think cleaning them with a wet flannel while they are in the bath is OK at that age.

  • i hope its went well

  • Hope you found the answer you were looking for.
