Hello!

It’s not even winter yet. Do you have the blues? And what is you pick me up? I have a one year old.

Any ideas to keep the winter blues away?

  • Try and go outside a bit if possible, otherwise a quick exercise session is enough to give me the pick me up I need in winter.

  • Winter Blues often occupy me! I try to get out in the sunshine for awhile each day – a walk along the water is also nice. I also make sure I eat healthy food so I can feel my best

  • For me it’s a case of still getting SOME fresh air. It’s a pain in the butt, but rug up, brolly, gumboots, waterproof overalls…you’re almost exhausted before you get out but when that fresh air hits you you feel like a new person and bub’s cabin fever disappears. Also vitamin D supplement. We all need it when the sun goes away.

  • Dancing! Find some funky tunes & kick it with your bub! (they love it too) Also try listening to an upbeat radio station like triple J too, makes you feel less alone!

  • If you can get a bit of sun most days I find it helps. I need to plan something enjoyable most days. This include visiting a friend, a walk, putting some music on and jiggling. I find I need to plan something to get me moving and motivated, then when the day is fragging on I have a ‘go to’ thing. A change of scenery often helps.

  • Great ideas in the other answer. The only think I would add to that list is to rug up and get out for a walk when you can. I find keeping active makes a difference.

  • Get up and get active early in the morning. have a big cooked breakfast so you and bub are set for the day. Pop bubs in the pram and go for a walk down the street.

Enrol in a kindergym or playgroup or music session for bubs so that you HAVE to get out and mingle.

Look after your health with plenty of water. Ginger, garlic and vitamin C are a must.

Take some time for you every day…
    – light a scented candle and put on YOUR music while bubs is asleep. It’ll make the housework more bearable.

    – ask hubby to run you a bath every Tuesday night once bubs is down. Get him to pour you a cup of tea or a wine and light a candle.

    – make lots of soups and casseroles. Its cheap, healthy and will make you enjoy your gorgeous winter meals even more.
