  • It really depends on your budget – Maxwell and Williams is good, and so is Salt and Pepper – they’re both mid range.

  • Maxwell and Williams is my first choice for dinner-ware and they last forever!

  • My thoughts are you do not have to spend heaps nowadays. Wait until June sales, and grab some really good stuff at a store like Myer really cheap. I love to change my stuff every 3 years approx., so don’t spend more than $80 on a six – eight piece setting.
Glasses break easily so chill and buy cheaper ones that you like the look of
Remember most stuff goes in dishwashers and wears out now

  • Maxwell and Williams is durable, reasonably priced, often on special, Corelle is another great brand that has stood the test of time and lasts forever, I would have a look at what is around, I would be buying plain white as it is timeless, replaceable, if you buy a trendy pattern then you will be replacing it when the sunflower in the middle is no longer fashionable LOL, there are heaps of other ways to add colour but keep the dinnerware simple especially for everyday use, the other thing is unless you do a lot of formal entertaining I would be buying at least 16 settings so that you do not need a special occasion set, saves space in the long run. Oh and gives you heaps of spares if you do start breaking pieces. Glassware, buy the best you can afford for spirits, but for day to day use I buy thick multi packs of nice Maxwell and Williams, they do break but usually get a couple of years of abuse from the teenagers first. I like nice glasses for drinking, hate plastic, but as they do break I tend to go for durable thick rimmed glasses for daily use, and like I said for special occasion drinks, buy the best you can afford. check out the end of financial year sales and January sales.

  • I will never not buy Corelle dinnerware
so light, 3 year no break warranty, timeless white design plus other designs to choose from and they easy to clean

  • Maxwell & Williams have a beautiful range and of very good quality.

  • I have a 16 piece Corelle set from Big W and Pyrex ware from Woolies that I have used daily for the past 9 years now, no chips or cracks. Have been dropped a few times on floorboards no damage thankfully.

  • Gosh it all depends on how much you want to spend & if you want it for informal or formal dining. I use Maxwell Williams as my everyday set

  • I have an everyday dinnerset from BigW that I have 16 settings for when the family comes for dinner. I have a white & platinum edged porcelain dinner set (Zylstra) for entertaining (24 settings). My glassware for everyday is Maxwell & Williams wine glasses & tumblers & my glasses for entertaining are Stuart crystal (our wedding present from my in laws).

  • Maxwell & Williams! Love em!

  • Personally I like Maxwell and Williams. I have the plain white dinnerware. It find it quite durable with my pre-teens and it is easy to replace and add bits to as you go along….like casserole dishes etc. I think it is reasonably priced and often on sale at homeware places.

  • I have had many dinner sets over the years and all chip, except my latest and have had it now for a few years and it looks as good as the day I purchased it : Corelle dinnerware, absolutely LoVe it. Corelle can be purchased from BIGW and comes in lovely designs.
Glassware with young children I would go for the unbreakable kind.

  • If your after quality go to myer, target have some ok sets

  • It depends on how much you are looking to spend. Ikea have amazing designs and are quite affordable. I find their products to be quite durable as well. If money is no object then of course Royal Doulton would be my ideal choice :-)

  • Homeart is a good place or just look around your local shopping centers
