Hello!

Any simple & cheap homemade Christmas gifts ideas?

It is a very, very tight Xmas this year but I still want my son to know the joy of giving gifts.

It can be craft, little treats, healthy and beauty anything cheap to make – any ideas anyone would like to share would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

  • Covering old light fitting shades, ceiling or lamp.
These can look old or old fashioned over time.
Cover by either fabric and glue, sticky school book paper (own glue) – M Mart has a range, wool, string, rope. Stickers for small childrens shades.
Make sure none of the additions touch the light globe (potential fire hazard).

  • Maybe you could make some White Christmas.

  • My sister bought those funky glasses with a lid and straw (about $1 each at kmart or target) and filled them with lollies

  • mom66380 – we made some of the seashell people! Thanks for the great idea! :)

  • Loved reading these responses! It has given me some wonderful ideas for this year. Thanks

  • Rum balls are cheap, White Christmas yum! These are super special. Grab some cellphone and place them in and make your own tags on some paper!

  • homemade baked goodies are the way to go for me – can get the little ones involved

  • MOM66380; love your daughter’s seashell people! Sounds like a lot of love goes into each and every one! :)

  • Baked goodies are always fun to make and thoughtful to give to people.

  • My daughter loves to make sea shell people from shells we collect from the beach. She glues Google eyes onto them and each one is unique and never the same. This is what makes them extra special gifts because her creativity goes into each one including the time searching for the shells at the the beach hand picked for her special creations!!

  • A craft box you need a big gift box go to the bargain shops, different glues( craft &normal), pad of colour papers ( I got mine from big w),Google eyes, pipe cleaners, foam stick on shapes & animals, scissors, coloured pencils. You will be able to pick up all these things just from woollies, big w and bargain shops. Oh and glitter. My kids love theirs it gets a good work out especially if they have been watching mr maker

  • Their own drawing in a photo frame is such a meaningful present.

  • There are loads of ideas to sew if you are into that. I have made hanging kitchen towels. I just made the topper and used a store towel cut in half. They look fab and hanging on your oven door are very handy. Also for sewing friends make pincushions, needle books or scissor holders. Lots of patterns on line.

  • So love MOM108051’s Christmas Cookie Cutter idea and poem. . . sooo creative and imaginative…not to mention cheap.

  • Presentation can make the ordinary look extroidinary: home made sugar nuts, lollies, rum balls, dried apricots dipped in chocolate, biscuits, sauces in a jar, The lid tied with ribbon, assemble your own hamper, home made beauty products. Infuse olive oil with rosemary sprigs or chillis in a beautiful bottle, home made toffee, rocky road, candles. Good luck.
