Hello!

Hi mums, I know you are all knowledgeable people and I need help as I am a bleached blonde mum and want to change back to my original colour which is brown but I cannot afford the price that the hairdressers want…

I am sick of being blonde and want to change back but I am scared if I do it myself my hair will go green and I don’t want to scare my granddaughter she would think I am from outer space… Do you have any tips for going from blonde to brunette at home?

  • Personally I would just go for it. Do a little test on you under hair at the back and see how it works out. You could ask a friend helping you to do that. And then go for your full head.

  • My tip would be…..don’t do it! I’ve had so many at home hair colouring disasters. It costs me more to fix my mistakes then it would for me to go to the hairdresser I. The first place

  • Blonde to brunette it’s fine, the other way around isn’t.

  • thanks mums I knew you would be helpful

  • Buy the colour you would like and do a test patch underneath for 24 hours to see what colour it goes and if it does not work it is hidden or you could cut it off!

  • You can always get a friend to come help you out. But buy a good quality brand of hair dye and follow the instructions in the box!

  • i was a hairdresser and i have done my blonde to brunette with john frieda and it’s all fine. brunette is less tricky to get right than blonde

  • You need to fill it with a red shade first before dying it brown. if it doubt go to the hair dresser

  • To do it properly for the first time i would go to a hairdresser, I once accidently turned my friends hair greenish while helping her dye her hair blonde. She ended up having to go get it done by the hairdresser and had to be in hiding till she could get it done properly. Be careful doing it yourself would hate you to have the same issue she did.
