Hello!

I have just started a full time job and having trouble keeping the house clean. I am a clean freak so when I was not working the house would always be clean. I am so exhausted from working that when I come home I only want to do a few things around the house. Im going to start using the dishwasher as that’s one less thing I have to worry about. Is there any other tips or easier way of doing things around the house?

  • Clean as you go, multi tasking, delegating tasks, routines. Good luck.

  • Also make a list other family members can help you with because of your work schedule.

  • Impossible; it will get dirty ;)
The only way for me is to stay organised. When you do the dishes clean the counters and the kitchen cupboard daily and take a cloth through the fridge. I clean the toilet, bathroom sink and mirror daily and mop the floors daily too. My husband vacuums daily and will help with the evening dishes. I do daily a wash and try to iron and pack it away the same day. I would make a schedule for the extra things and look to what has priority for you.

  • Move out after cleaning! It’s the only way to guarantee your home stays clean.

  • Also delegating chores and responsibility is a good way to go and of course the delegating of chores needs to be age appropriate.

  • Schedules and staying on top of everything is the way to go. A schedule and sticking to it is a lifesaver!

  • Doing the cleaning in the morning is the best option for me as when you come home you don’t feel like cleaning!

  • Keep toys in boxes and only have one out at a time. Plan and prepare meals on the weekends to avoid extra work and dishes. Have everyone help pick up 3 things at the end of the night – all of a sudden if there are 4 of you that is 12 things away. Work out set days to do washing – even if it means buying 5 school shirts to get through the week without washing it is soooo worth it.

  • Pop a load on before u go to work so that way u only have to hang it out or pop it in the dryer when u get home. Make dinners for the week on the weekend and freeze them and pull out one every morning for dinner that night. Invest in a slow cooker.

  • I write myself a chore calendar and I have to do a certain thing each day, that way everything gets done

  • Get a cleaner to do the horrible jobs like cleaning the showers and oven.

Can you partner or children help with the daily tasks? Maybe ask the children to load the dishwasher or get partner to do the washing.

  • de clutter? if your working them the house should stay clean?

  • Try and do a power clean for 5 minutes every night. Get rid of things that you don’t use. Write yourself a list every week of cleaning to do and forget about doing things like dusting regularly. If all else fails, get a cleaner!

  • Write yourself a weekly roster, easier to keep track of what needs doing without feeling everything has to be done every day. And ask yourself how often certain things really need doing, e.g. can I dust once or twice a week instead of every day?

  • I agree about the dishwasher using less water my hubby worked it out. I also find that if I get rid of a lot of things that don’t get used etc that makes everything look cleaner and is a little easier to stay clean. I would spread the cleaning over each day and just choose 1 area of the house rather than try and do it all at night.
