  • Start small, try a few things you might like and give them a go. Personally I don’t buy fruit or veg as I can get fresher elsewhere. They have some great non-supermarket type items and most of the food is made in the same factories as the big name stuff, just branded differently. Give it a go, you just might surprise yourself

  • when i first started shopping at aldi it was a real shock. but slowly week to week after trying more products our family found we loved it. i recommend to start with a small basics shop and go from there e.g loo paper, wash powder, cheese, meat ect.
best thing of all we were saving a huge ammount week to week at aldi yet had more. i would never do a full shop at woolworths ever again its just so expensive. i like the fact that aldi has a good small selection of all product you could need rather than being like woolies and coles with whole isles of the same basic item.

  • Take your own bags and you have to pack your own. I didn’t know about self packing when I first went so I kinda held everyone up lol

  • Everything is a bargain at Aldi. They sell all the usual meat, fruit and veg as well as other groceries. Best bit is most products are sourced from Australia, which I love

  • I’m also a big fan of ALDI’s cleaning products – sponges, scourers, paper towel and rubbish bags. Their dog food is such a great price and the kids snack foods and lunchbox items are also great value and a winner with kids. Their eye fillet beef can be a bit hit and miss sometimes but their pork belly and lamb shoulder when on Best buys are fantastic. Be prepared to stick to your budget as its easy to overspend at Aldi when they have also sorts of goodies on offer apart from the food and grocery items!

  • ok so far so good, love the dairy, butter, eggs are cheap! cleaning stuff good, plus chips are yummy!!

  • We purchase most of our meat, dairy and cleaning products from Aldi.
Plus dog food. Things like pine nuts and vanilla extract also seem to be priced alot better at Aldi. We still go to coles for items that we can’t get at Aldi. But I think Aldi is much better value in comparison

  • Just be aware that it’s not an all in one supermarket. Often you will need to purchase other things in Coles/Woolies/IGA etc as they don’t stock everything. We buy staples there like bread, milk, eggs and fruit and veg. You have to pack your own bag at the checkout.

  • cool, not happy about the surcharge and I always forget my bags!

  • Being preprepared for a trip to Aldi is always easier. I find if you purchase some of the reusable bags on the initial trip and keep them in the boot for next time, then the whole experience is a lot less chaotic than getting to the queue and finding you need to juggle getting the groceries up on the belt to be scanned and purchasing bags at the same time. Alternatively if you take some sturdy cardboard boxes that can be reused next time that is also easy to stack in the boot of your car.

  • Make sure you take a gold coin for the trolleys, if you have enviro bags take them (be ready to grab everything as scanned) and know your prices so you get a good bargain!

  • stick to your budget, make sure you have a gold coin in purse to be able to use trolley ( or purchase a disc you can keep and use everytime. take your own bags. be prepared to pack your own bags. pay by cash or savings eftpos. ( do not use credit as charged a small fee for using credit cards ) dont take the kids they will want everything. Try each product at least once to make up your own mind. some I will use again and again, but some I wont ( like I wont use aldi shampoo/conditioner or sanitary products )

  • Don’t just take your own shopping bags, try these SHOP SMART TROLLEY BAGS from Kogan. I bought 3 of them and they make shopping at Aldi so much easier because you can just put the shopping straight into the bags that are already in your trolley at the checkout, then just lift out the bags when you get to the car. No more time wasted packing your groceries in store or at the car. Note however you will need at least 3 of these for a full trolley (maybe 4 if you do a really big shop) because they are not quite as strong as some of the usual shopping bags. They are easy to use because they just clip over your trolley. But believe me they will be worth it because if you get a really fast checkout person at Aldi, you definitely won’t have time to do anything else but just put your groceries straight into these bags! Save me heaps of time every week. Aldi did sell their own version (I bought one bag when they opened a store near me about 2 years ago), but I haven’t seen them stocked since, don’t know why because they are great.
