Hello!

My oven door has a lot of caked on grease, and as hard as I scrub I can’t clean it! Is there something else I should be doing? I don’t want to use any chemicals in there so I’m at a loss as to what to do. Any ideas would be very appreciated. Thanks.

  • You could make a paste with bi-carb of soda and water. Coat the oven with this paste and leave overnight. The next day clean off the paste with vinegar.

  • the simple home cleaners are vinegar and baking soda. make sure to clean when warm as it will be a bit easier

  • I believe there are citrus based cleaners.

  • Great tips,like the vinger and bicarb,thanks.

  • I’ve just bought a steam cleaner, a multi tool one. I can wash floors, clean windows, freshen the carpets, it’s great on the BBQ and I’ve used it in the oven. Depending on how much grease you have to remove, will depend on how many times you’ll have to clean it. But it’s pretty good, chemical free too

  • I use baking soda and vinegar to clean mine.
Also i know you dont want to use chemicals but glass cleaner that you would clean a fireplace with works well in oven and it is not really harsh.

  • I soak the racks in napisan overnight, they come out sparkling

  • I have the Enjo range of cleaning cloths and have found these to be the best you dont use any chemicals just water wipe it over after each use and it stays lovely.

  • Take a large pan of boiling water and place it on the bottom shelf of the oven. Turn oven onto medium heat and leave to steam for 20 mins. Keep a towel handy as the grease and residual build up of foodstuffs can be messy. Turn off oven, remove water tray. Most of the mess can be wiped off without much scrubbing. It’s a good alternative to not using toxic sprays.

  • Vinegar and bicarb or lemon juice and bicarb and lots of elbow grease. I sometimes use an attachment on my steam mop to steam the grease to make is loose and easier to get off. Good luck. Worst case scenario you could hire someone to come and clean it for you.

  • If you don’t want to use chemicals your best bet would be the microfibre cloths. Norwex have a grease cloth that is awesome for ovens – and their laundry powder (with no fillers) and a cloth will clean the racks right up. They also have a oven cleaner but it’s temporarily out of stock. Check out their website to find a consultant near you.

  • I recently used oranges, dish washing liquid and water to clean my bbq and it come up like NEW! Just slice orange into 2 or 3 thick pieces and remove a little skin to expose fruit apply a small amount of dish washing liquid and start rubbing. Even heat the oven a little with warm water and do the above. Wipe excess off with damp clean cloth and repeat.

  • Baking soda and vinegar made into a paste or sugar soap works really also.

  • Maybe you could warm the oven up ( I always clean my oven when it’s still warm as the grease comes off easier) and a little elbow grease with a non harsh scrubber could do the trick, :)

  • I use Baking soda & vinegar mix to a paste, rub onto the grease…leave for about ten minutes depends on how greasy oven is then simply wipe of works like magic everytime, no need for harsh scrubbing
